I despise INJURY.
A few weeks ago, I fell playing hockey and hurt my lower right back. It hurt so bad, it took me a full 30 seconds to lower myself down. I iced it a little but it continued to be a dull ache... definitely didn't give it any of the care it deserved... and today I got it checked out. Seems to be a simple strain of some sort... sagittal lumbar or something; has something to do with the tendon there.
So I've been prescribed the only thing that will fix it that I neglected to try: rest. It somehow didn't occur to me that falling over and over again in hockey practice wasn't helping an probably re-injuring it. Doing back kicks and getting punched probably also doesn't help. Lifting weights, even if I screw up just a little bit is terrible... and yet I continued to do it all.
And here I am, unable to do any of it. All I can do is stretch it, speed walk and ride my bike.
GROWL
Ug- that does suck-I know how you feel. Earlier this year I had a stress fracture with some added complications and ended up missing my senior year track season and months of any kind of exercise. I too tried everything but resting, but in the end, it wouldn't have healed if I didn't. I know it's hard, but you need to take it easy and let time take over in healing- otherwise, it could get far worse. Take care, and I hope it heals soon!
I know what you mean, injuries suuucck! At least you can walk/ride a bike. I pulled my groin and can't do much of anything.... I can't even drive, it hurts to move my leg from the gas petal to the brake :/
