I despised exercising!

I really hate working out.  Does anyone else find themselves working out just so that they can consume the calories they work off?  Like tonight for example, I'm craving frozen yogurt.  I had not planned to work out today (wanted to take a break) but because I want some frozen yogurt, I'm going to burn the calories needed.  I'm trying not to go beyond my alloted 1200 calories and I've already consumed the bulk of it so I'm gonna burn the necessary calories at the last minute!  I know that it isn't suppose to be this way but this is really pathetic on my part, I know!

That mindset is going to be hard to keep up.  Try to find an activity you enjoy doing to at least break up the other workouts.  Biking, swimming, playing on a playground, jumping rope, roller skating, etc., are all enjoyable activities.  You don't have to go "work out".

The other thing is that 1200 is the bare minimum for a woman - most women need more.  Try upping your calories just a little and see if you feel better.

Yep I do that. I only exercise on the days I'm eating over my calorie limit. I eat 1200 a day and some days for me it is worth it not to have a whole bunch of food and to just take a break from moving. So for me I exercise 2 to 3 times a week. There's nothing wrong with taking a break one day. Just make sure you exercise when you eat more than your limit and you'll be fine. don't feel bad about not wanting to exercise. For some people it just takes a bit to find an activity you actually enjoy. You said you are doing it at least some days. so that's a start.

I used to HATE working out too. It was such a bother. But I was going about it all wrong. I used to go by myself, which was boring, and was a way to let myself cheat at how hard (or not hard) i pushed myself, becuase there was no one to be accountable to but myself. Now I go with my friend and I never cancel because I know she's there waiting for me. ALso, I am less likely to slack. But the most important thing that happened is that once I got comfortable going, after a couple weeks I realized I love working out! It makes me feel great, it gives me energy, and I love sweating! That sounds nasty, but it makes me feel like I've accomplished something. So grab a partner, find something you don't mind doing, and let yourself get into it! I know you can do it!

My problem is that I'm just a lazy person in general.  I'm almost 40 now but in my mid-20's when I was in the best shape of my life (the only time I was actually fit), I was consistently working out.  But I didn't enjoy it then either.  I'd much rather sit in front of the TV.  I don't like much activity period.  No swimming, jogging, aerobics, not even walking.  I find everything such a chore.  I'm just lazy.  Like I said, these days I only work out so that I can consume the calories I've burned.  But at least that's something.

Bluedeedoo, I've tried working out with a friend.  It didn't work because neither of us were completely committed.  I don't think having someone there would inspire me if truth be told.

Sometimes I hate working out, and sometimes I have fun...the only cardio I really enjoy is the treadmill running so I subbed the cross-trainer and bicycle for longer running sessions + uphill power walking. I figure that it's better to change my programme myself than avoid going to the gym because I hate a certain machine!

I hate working out as well. I am doing this exercise program because I have NO ONE around me that wants to work out. I hate gyms! Last time I tried going to a gym, it was constant paranoia. My fitness level was a joke and people around me seemed so fit, so i quit! But I found out that working out at home is better for me. I still hate having to do it, but at least i do not feel horrible and can go at my own speed. The thing that I hate the most is the sore muscles the day after a work out. But we all have to motivate ourselves and just do it, day by day... in the end, we will feel worst if we are not happy with our body.
