I saw a message board on there about detoxing and cleansing the system and got very interested in it. I want to start it. I'm goin to take this "cleansing system pills" things to do it, that I got at a Whole foods store. So I was wondering for those of you who have done it or know something about it. SHould I just start it up right away or is there specific things I should do before I start. Some people "prepare their body for detox" how do I do that?

I saw your post on the other board....I have done the smart cleanse detox several times. I don't do anything in particular to prepare my body since they are very gentle on the system. I would urge you to up your fluid intake. Also, drink a cup of warm water w/ juice of half a lemon in the morning. Finally, buy some pure cranberry juice (no sugar or water added) or black cherry juice and add several tablespoons to a 34 oz. bottle of water and sip during the day. It helps flush the lymphatic system and the liver. It will definitely aid the detox you are doing. Which particular one are you doing?
well I haven't ever done it before so I'm goin to do the very first smart cleanse detox to see how my body deals with it. I can't remember what its called cause I haven't gotten it yet, but its the easiest on the body. I'll try the water and lemon thing I have heard that before and the juice suggestions.
You might want to search the forum archives and Google for Master Cleanse.
I looked up the Master Cleanse thing. I have heard about that. People use that as a diet method and then lose a ton of weight and then gain it all back plus some! I just want to detox and get rid of all the crap in my body. Is that something I could do for a short time as a detox method or is more for weight lose?
It would be good to remove animal based foods, wheat and sugar from your diet a few days prior as this will start a gentle detox, this way you won't feel quite so sick when you start the "cleansing system pills". It will also make that cleanse that much more effective because it will be able to work on toxins stored up in your fat cells and organs more efficiently.
Good luck :)
Good luck :)
Just saw this post. How long shoud you stay on the detox? Do you eat too?
I am doing a detox right now. I waited a day to start to make sure that I had all the food I needed and made a food plan for the duration of the cleansing, just to make sure I would not go astray from it. My detox system is 7 days, it consists of a powdered stuff in the morning (not too bad if you make it into a straberry banana smoothie in the morning) and a bunch of pills. I also reccomend that you take a multivitamin. I bought both the cleansing system and the vitamins from GNC. You take these "dietary supplements" (as they call them) IN COMBINATION with a good diet. Though, they do reccomend excluding sugar, too much sodium, and things like caffeine and condiments.
I am doing great on mine so far, I haven't really lost any weight from it, but I feel much better than I did. I didn't do it to lose weight anyway, just to flush out my system.
Speaking of flushing....not to be too gross...but it makes your pee turn funny colors, so don't be alarmed when it does.

Does detox give you more energy? I have thought about doing this to get all the crud out of my body in hopes it will make me feel more energetic. I am so tired of feeling worn down and thinking it might because my body is polluted inside.
Here is what Mayo clinic doctors say about detoxing.

I usually go here to check if things are safe. I think they are reputable and offer sound advice.

Stine, those that are using the Master Cleanse program for weight loss are doing it for the wrong reasons. It should really be used more for the purpose of cleansing the body.

yea I'm definatly not doin it for weight loss, I htink its stupid to do it for that reason cause when you stop, and you have to stop, you gain it all back so I think thats the way wrong reason! I just wanna make sure I"m doin it right. I bought the Smart Cleansing system today so I'm goin to do that. I just wanted to make sure I was doing it right.
-PS- the fasting detox I can't do because I'm borderline Hypoglicemic so fasting just isn't an option for me, so I'm thinking this Smart Cleansing would work. It's just a pill you take like one in the morning and then one at night for the first few days and then one in the morning and two at night for the rest of the month. You eat basically the same just more fruits and veggies and less red meat... lots of fish, seeds that kinda of thing... organic foods too and less dairy and breads.... LOTS OF WATER
I actually feel like I have more energy. I am on day 6 of my detox right now (not fasting or juice, just added dietary supplements). I actually got up at 5 am this morning and exercized! I NEVER have the energy to get up that early in the morning.
I did some master cleanse type of thing.... was a lot of juice and weird things like cloves and ginger mixed in. and then salad and lean proteins. I passed out in bloomingdales on day 3. NOT WORTH IT. NOw I just eat healthy etc..... Better to be healthy then waste time with detox.
