Does anyone have any suggestions on a safe way to detox your body. I have been feeling like garbage lately and have strayed from my diet.

If you truly want to detox, try a healthy combination of the following, while keeping to your recommended intake per BMR. Can I ask your height, weight, age and activity level? :]

Fruit
Fresh or frozen fruit.

Vegetables
All fresh vegetables. Vegetables thought to be particularly good detox foods include broccoli, cauliflower, broccoli sprouts, onions, garlic, artichokes, beets, red and green vegetables.

Rice
All forms of rice, including rice cakes, rice crackers and rice pasta. Brown rice is typically preferred.

Other Grains
Quinoa, amaranth, millet, and buckwheat can be used instead of rice. They can be purchased at a health food store or in some grocery stores.

Beans
Split yellow and green peas and lentils are easiest to digest and require the least soaking time. Other good options include kidney beans, pinto beans, mung beans, garbanzo beans (chickpeas) and adzuki beans.

Nuts and Seeds
Unsalted nuts or seeds can be sprinkled over salads or eaten as a snack. Good options include flaxseed, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, cashews and walnuts. Nut butters are permitted. Peanuts and peanut butter are usually not recommended.

Oil
Extra-virgin olive oil is a preferred oil.

Condiments
Vegetable salt, sea salt, vinegar, soy sauce or tamari, all herbs or spices.

Tea
Herbal teas, green tea.

Other Beverages
Water, lemon water, pure unsweetened fruit and vegetable juices, rice milk

Daily Detox Do's
Drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water per day, warm or room temperature.

Take the time to chew food well, especially grains.

age - 25

height - 5'2

weight - 141 lbs

activity level - working too much? I need to exercise.

Thank you for your quick reply

Quite alright!

According to CC's tools, you burn 1700 calories when sedentary. Sooo, if you're looking to lose weight safely and "detox" (I don't really like that word) in the right way, aim for a balanced set of meals and snacks over the day compromised of a variety from each and all of the ideas posted each day, while eating about 1400 calories each day. :] You'll lose a little under a pound a week, but I don't like to recommend to a female adult to go below 1400 or so unless they are very short even if the bare minimum is 1200! >_<; If you bring exercise into the equation your deficit will be greater, but never burn to a point you'll have a greater than 1000 calorie deficit or are going below 1200. Besides, slow and steady wins the race~ Hope this helps!

I tried this detox once that came from an Oprah magazine. They say it takes 21 days to break a habit so it all boiled down to 21 days of no alcohol, no animal products what so ever including milk, cheese, animal fats like butter, etc. , no gluten, no sugar except for natural sugars in fruits and vegetables, and no caffeine...which for me was most difficult. Anyway, I tried it and I have never felt so energized in my life. After the first week your body just feels lighter. My skin cleared up, I was able to fall asleep easier at night and felt more rested, and through the day I felt fantastic. Google "Oprah's 21 day cleanse" if you're interested. Just an idea. Smile
