100 calories a day sounds dangerous and will eventually put your body into starvation mode.

But keep in mind that I'm no expert when it comes to detox. I have no idea what detox is meant for, if it's healthy or unhealthy, proven, etc.

With that said- 100 calories/ daily still seems VERY dangerous!

yeah i know when i realized i was consuming 100cals a day i was scared. i KNOW thats not healthy. a detox is to get all teh bad toxins out of ur body. ive done tons of research and this specific detox has been around for a long time and it supposed to be good. doing it for 10days.

I think it'd be safer to ask your doctor first before you do something like that. You're body's not used to that and you don't want to hurt yourself. Just becareful!

You'll probably get a lot of responses on this, so I'll just start off by saying that barring some special medical condition, the human body already has the mechanisms in place to rid the body of what it doesn't need - if it didn't, you'd be critically ill.  Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, get plenty of fiber, and your liver, kidneys, and colon will do the job they're supposed to do.

The detox you're trying is endorsed by some on CC, and many do not.  However, the people who endorse do specifically say that it's not for weight loss, so I hope that's not your intent.  Regardless, 100 cals a day is dangerous, particularly without medical supervision - that sounds like it would reek havoc with your metabolism and electrolytes.  Be careful, and try reading up on dissenting opinions to get more information on the physical implications of this "detox."

On edit:  Here's one article from the Mayo clinic on "cleansing" - http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/colon-cleans ing/AN00065

The best case scenario is that it's ineffective for removing toxins or helping with weight loss. Your body cannot "detox" itself the way it was designed to if you deprive it of fuel.

Suicide has been around a long time too. Here is a quote from the Mayo Clinic above....."Your colon absorbs water and sodium to maintain your body's fluid and electrolyte balance. Some colon-cleansing programs disrupt this balance, causing dehydration and salt depletion. Long-term or excessive cleansing programs can lead to problems such as anemia, malnutrition and heart failure."

If you are going to continue with these nutsy things that are dangerous and don't work, why are you here?  You won't get any support from me for this kind of nonsense. or, is this the kind of attention you want?

What hyms do you want played at your funeral?

It won't kill you if you do it for a short period of course though...and it's really good for you to do it once in a while, but mainly just if you eat alot of preservatives, or non organic foods, or live in a polluted area.. otherwise its kinda pointless to do.. I ahve done other cleanses before, the brown rice cleanse, your more stable. or a 7 day cleanse, you start of with juiced veggis and fruits, then whole fruits and veggies, then grains, then legumes, then nuts , dairy, meat...im pretty sure.....didnt do that one in a while....hmm yeah.. but theyre easier to do

Hi,

This is a late response, but I just saw the post.  I just want to add that if byebyebinge had been doing the master cleanse correctly, there is no way she would have been consuming a mere 100 cals per day.

One of the ingredients is Grade B maple syrup.  One serving of this contains 100 cals.  Since you are to drink this at least six times per day (more is okay) you should be upward around 700-800 cals per day, which is a VLC (very low-cal) diet.

Fasting for 24 hours, ONCE A MONTH, as some religions do, has been shown in some studies to increase longevity, but otherwise, 'cleansing' is a crock of baloney.  Your body gets rid of toxins on its own--we call it 'peeing'.

no, it's a perfectly healthy diet. i just got off of it a few weeks ago. depending on your size 120 or less you should only do it for 5 or 6 days. at night make sure your doing the laxative tea then in the morning drink the salt water. the first day after the diet you can only drink fresh orange juice then at night make your own vegi broth then second day eat the vegi's out of broth then third day eat normal but no junk food no carbs. dont eat any junk food/ carbs for at least 5 days after.

personally i stopped the diet my 5th day.i felt great after, your sense of smell and hearing should be more intense as well.

good luck

I just finished my 4th MC, I usually do it once a year.  Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion, but mine is I love the MC and will do it again!  My friend back home just started today for 10 days and this is his second cleanse.  There are many people all over the world who have been doing this for years with great success.

I prefer limes over lemons, better flavor.  Smile
