Will I develop a food allergy if I eat the same food everyday?

I put fresh lemon juice in my water and in my 'green' drink. A friend told me she used to do the same, but she developed an 'overuse' allergy to lemons. She had to stop eating them for 4 - 5 months, at which point she re-introduced lemons every few days. My friend says allergies like this are so common because people get into routines and never check for possible allergies. What is your opinion on this? Thank you!
Answer
Some people could have an existing food allergy that may not be severe, but symptoms would become uncomfortable if the offending food is eaten often or in a large amount. The same response would be expected in the case of a food intolerance, like lactose intolerance, where a small amount of the problem food is well-tolerated but a large amount could lead to distress. However, adults do not invite new food allergies by eating the same food everyday. In addition, citrus fruit is not a common food allergy trigger. I see no harm in having lemon juice everyday.
