diaper disposal & dogs

What do the experienced parents and pet owners recommend as the best diaper disposal system for a house with dogs?  My dogs are big (60lbs) and they love anything that smells bad.

I have two 65 lb monsters & they never even sniff the diaper genie

My dog isn't big (a pug--30 pounds) but if he gets the chance, he'll devour diapers. We use the Diaper Genie II system and he doesn't even bother trying to get into it.

Thanks!  I was thinking of the diaper genie and some of my non-dog owning friends were saying it was a waste of money because of the refills.  But you guys provided me with the info I wanted.  It keeps the dogs away!  Yay!

Honestly, if my refill runs out and I don't feel like buying one, I don't. I either stick a trash bag in it or put the diapers directly in there and empty it when it's full. It really doesn't stink when doing either of those.

Thanks for the advice.  I'll have to keep that in mind.  I used my gift cards to buy one today.

I have two 70+ dogs and one of them is a garbage hound and his favorite is the bathroom trash....ick.  If we leave him in the house its all over the bathroom.  Its the only can in the house without a lid.

Also if we take him on a car ride, doesnt matter if its two minutes or two hours we are away from the car, every little piece of something that has a food smell on it.....its in the the tiniest pieces I have even seen.

We have a normal tall can with a lid for the diapers and he doesnt seem to even know its there.  Plus we empty it if there anything other than pee so it doesnt get too stinky.

Even with dogs I wouldnt buy the Genie, but we didnt ever and still dont buy anything until we need it.

I am WAY to frugal to use a diaper genie.  I have never had one.  We stick to the old method of hanging a grocery store plastic bag on the back door knob (on the outside) and fill it with the poopy diapers until it's  a little more than half full then throw it in the garbage bin & start all over.  When the diapers get bigger...and messier then it's one bag per poopy!
