Besto of LUCK!!!  And way to have a positive attitude!!!  Keep up the fight :)

Patience is everything when losing weight so keep that up.

I have a couple of questions for you.  Did you use this website to determine the calories you need to lose weight?  I found it to be very accurate.

Are you loggin in everything you eat, using accurate calories ( not estimating)?  This keeps me honest.

I have been using the site since July 30th.  I weighed 200 lbs when I started. I'm 5'4".  I entered sedentary as my activity level because my exercise is erratic.  I enter in any exercise in the activity log.  I have to be very deligent with entering calories in the log.  Otherwise I forget what I ate and under log my calories.  I don't eat anything that I don't know the calories for.  I will not estimate the calories.  So far I have lost 10.5 lbs.  That's about 1.5lbs per week.  I am very satisfied with that.

Please re-evaluate what your calorie count should be to lose weight.  Then be very careful with logging in calories and activity.  It will work.

Good Luck!

Good luck!  I just upped my calories to 1800 from 1500 this week to see what would happen.  I didn't lose much the first part of the week, but today I finally broke through a plateau weight I kept bumping against.  I couldn't get below 221.6 and this morning was 221.0.

Hopefully the new strategy will work for you!  You are very positive and its good that you are not getting discouraged.  I just started CC, so I don't have much advice to give.....  I'm eating around 1500 calories and hoping that it will work for me.

Try to increase fiber intake, you might just need a good poo...Yell (works for me, Kashi golean has a ton of fiber and you put soymilk on it)  Also, you should try B vitamins its called B-50, revs up your metabolism.  If you are exercising, you may be adding muscle which weighs more than fat.  Wait a few weeks and see if your clothes fit different.  Sometimes the scales dont show that.

part of it is kind of finding your own "magic number" or so to say. Keep your head up and when you find the number for you, the pounds will come right off!!!

Have you consulted your doc. about this? Maybe a couple blood tests are in line to make sure everything is working ok. Maybe you've already done all that though.  My doctor was so instrumental in keeping me motivated and giving me tools to stay in line and motivated.  I love my doc-  I hope you do too! They can be such powerful tool in our health goals!

Also, it's counter-intuitive to up your calorie intake to lose weight. If the 1500kcal a day was working before, it shouldn't  NOT work anymore. Don't forget that calories are energy- what isn't used is stored and only when there is a deficite weight loss occurs.

Here's a couple things that have helped me along the way..

If you're exercising, maybe try tacking on an extra 10 minutes to that walk or swim- it all adds up, right? You may have hit a plateau and need to kick your routine in the rear and rev things up a bit.

Some other commentors recommended B vitamins, fiber and I would recommend to maybe up your water intake, as well- it is such a great way to cleanse our bodies!

Good luck to you!

In this case, she's right on track (and I didn't get the impression from the original post that the 1500 cals/day had ever worked).  Given her height and weight, the original poster's BMR (how many calories her body needs just to run its organs and such) is ~1860 cals.  If she eats less than that on a regular basis, her metabolism's going to slow down and make it harder for her to lose weight.  I'd actually suggest she go up to 1900 cals/day just to make sure she convinces her body that she really is going to feed it enough for survival and keep her metabolism high.

Do you exercise regularly? That will help jumpstart your metabolism as well.
  1. Don't give up! I have been using this website since June 22 and I did not see results right away either. I have now lost 6 pounds. These postings have given me good advice and ideas on different things to try.  USe the analysis button and make sure your getting enough protein! Like someone posted to you, maybe you need a good POO! I love fiber one and it keeps me pretty satisfied until snack time in the morning.  Someone also told me not to weigh in so much because your weight will go up and down with water retention, hormones,... etc Good Luck! It will happen eventually!

THANKS Everyone!  Smile  i laughed soooooooooooo hard when i read that 1st post about Maybe I Need a Good Poo!  that was way too funny!  But TRUE!  i almost died laughing the 1st time my husband came out of the bathroom and said THAT WAS 10 POUNDS  Laughing  at first i didnt understand him but when he explained what he meant i almost hit the floor!  so i know what you girls mean! i guess i will learn how it goes and hopefully SOON!  i do work out regularly with Leslie Sansone...  LOVE HER!  and now i have my Hubby Walking Away The Pounds with me too!  he is only maybe 30 or 40 pounds overweight but its all in his belly...  he doesnt even drink and he has a Beer Belly!  its one of those 8 or 9mo pregnant looking ones... so he Wants To Lose WITH Me! and that makes it Much More Important! i cant get him to Eat Very Well yet because he LOVES his Fast Food & Cookies & Chocolate but when i CAN get him to sit down with a plate of Roasted Chicken & Veggies he just smiles.......................  then he runs for the cookies & the remote and messes it all up!  Ha Ha!!!  he will learn..........................  Thanks For All The Advice Everyone!!!

With your stats, the burn meter estimates you burn 2200 while being sedentary. If you realize that's a conservative estimate, and anything you are doing is adding to that, you will see 1500 is too low. If you go up and down stairs, walk a bit, clean house, work outside the home (just getting ready and getting there is activity), you will add a few hundred cals to your burn because of your current weight (the heavier you are, the more energy-calories-it takes to do anything.)

So definitely up those cals. If you are more than "sedentary," you will need to take in even more than 1800, perhaps.

Good luck.

Don';t forget to keep your protien levels up to keep your metabolism burning :) And drink your water.

Good luck to you.
