diet 101 challenge......12 week challenge (FULL.....AGAIN!)

A 12-week challenge that will educate you on the various powerhouse foods, as well as keeping you focused on a healthy weight loss.

Set out in 2-week increments with a weight in every second Friday. The goal is to earn as many points as possible that are made up of weekly challenges and bonus rounds. While doing all of these challenges the focus is still on healthy eating, exercise and weight loss.

·            Week 1& 2        Make friends with fibre (Begins March 7th)

·       &n bsp;    Week 3 & 4        Good salt Bad Salt (Begins March 21st)

·       &n bsp;    Week 5 & 6              H20 Wahooooo (Begins April 4th)

·       &n bsp;    Week 7 & 8        Gym Gym Gym (Begins April 18th)

·       &n bsp;    Week 9 & 10       Fruits and Vegetables Galore (Begins May 2nd)

       &nb sp;     Week 11 & 12     Fatty Fatty Fatty (Begins May 16th)


Please post all stats and points in one post, and edit every 2 weeks)

Weigh in every 2nd Friday, weight and points must be posted by Sunday.

RESULTS!!

So Ladies here it is the end of the challenge!!  This 12 weeks has flown by! IT has been great fun and the  ‘Diet 101 – Intermediate’ is coming soon so watch this space!!

This has been a great challenge, and a very educational one too, I did not realise how hard some of the challenges would be. I still stick rigidly to the salt and fibre that’s for sure.

We all made a fantastic effort and we all lost tons of weight!!! Between us we lost 120.5 pounds! I dare you all to try and pick that up at the gym the next time that you are there.  We are ALL winners in this challenge and I was reluctant to announce winners and losers because that makes the people who didn’t win think that they did not gain something. No one on this challenge has anything to defeatist about what they have achieved, even if you lost a pound it is a pound lost and we are all the better for being more conscious about our weight and we all stuck to something and stuck with it too!! 12 weeks is a long time to stay dedicated to a project so EVERYONE is a winner.

However……………….There were a few who do need a mention!

In third place we have JDS17! She scored an amazing 565 points and lost an incredible 15lb!! way to go JDS!

In Second place we have Christalrae, this is an amazing achievement considering that she was a late starter to the challenge. She scored in with 576 points and an amazing 9lb lost! This is a great weight loss considering its harder when you have less to lose! Well done Christal!

And in first place, we have the clear winner of this challenge, she is dedication personified its Social work Sarah! She has consistently won the challenges and stayed focused. She managed an AMAZING 661 points and lost an astounding 38lb!! That’s a small child she has managed to shift!  Sarah we take our hats off to you!

Cool the first one, im really looking forward to it too, its amazing how much you learn on these things, and the great recipe ideas you come up with that are healthy. if you want me to send you a chart to track your points let me know :)

I think I'd like to rise to your challenge(s)!  I would like a copy of that pdf sent to me. 

My starting weight was 253 on Dec 7, 2007.  My weight, as of this morning, is 230.4! That's 22.6 pounds Laughing- of course I still have a lot to go.

Let's see 12 weeks will put us at the end of May - just in time for summer clothes!

Is your mom going to sign up on here too, or maybe you could post her info!

My Mum bless her heart can barely turn on a microwave LOL, I need to ask her her stats :)

And great job on the weight loss Suzi, thats amazing. I was 226 when I started at christmas, I am down to 214 as of today. if we all lose a pound a week it will be something :)

I guess I can't participate.  I take Fiber Sure because I don't consume enough fiber and I need regularity.  If not, it's only once a week and that, in my opinion, is unhealthy.
Is that a medical thing demila? the not consuming enough fibre?

If not the whole point of the challenge is to consume enough fibre without the aid of stuff like fibre sure.

It would be too easy for everyone to go out and just chuck a table spoon of fibresure down there neck, the whole point is to take the two weeks to educate yourself on how you can eat enough fibre without the aid of stuff like fibre sure.

If it is not medical, then try it for a week and see. when i was doing a similiar challenge last year I did not stop going!!

Here are some great ideas for filling up your fibre needs :)

Food    - Serving size  - Amount of Fibre  

Oatmeal  - 3/4 cup - 2.7 grams

All Bran,  - 1/3 cup  - 9.0 grams

Bran Flakes -3/4 cup -  4.5 grams

Whole wheat pasta  - 1 cup - 5.0 grams

Brown rice  - 1 cup  - 3.0 grams

Whole wheat bread  - 1 slice  - 2.0 - 3.0 grams

Rye crackers  - 3 crackers  - 5.0 grams

Flaxseed,  -  1 tablespoon  - 1.5 grams

Garbanzo beans or chickpeas  - 1/2 cup  - 3.5 grams

Kidney beans  - 1/2 cup  - 9.0 grams

Lentils  - 1/2 cup  - 3.0 grams

Baked beans  - 1/2 cup  - 7.0 grams

Peanut butter  - 2 tablespoons  - 2.0 grams

Almonds  - 10 nuts (1/4 cup)  - 4.0 grams

Sunflower seeds  - 2 tablespoons  -2.0 grams

Corn  - 1/2 cup  - 2.0 grams

Peas  - 1/2 cup  -3.5 grams

Spinach  - 1/2 cup  -3.0 grams

Broccoli  - 1/2 cup - 2.5 grams

Cauliflower  - 1/2 cup  - 1.7 grams

Carrots  - 1/2 cup  - 2.0 grams

Beans (green) - 1/2 cup  - 2.0 grams

Sweet potato  - 1 small  - 3.5 grams

Potato with skin - 1 small  - 3.0 grams

Banana  - 1 medium  - 2.0 grams

Pear  -1/2 cup (half a pear)  - 2.5 grams

I'm 22, 5'3.5" (haha lynied and I are practically twins!)

Welcome aboard alldolledup!! we have the same goal in mind, i would like to get to 190 but think 195 is more of an achievable goal for me :)

I just joined the sight today, but I'm up for a challenge! Hit the ground running, right?

 

I'm 5'8 and currently (gulp) 235lbs. I'll turn 25 on the 24th of March, so that should be fun!
