RESULTS!!
So Ladies here it is the end of the challenge!! This 12 weeks has flown by! IT has been great fun and the ‘Diet 101 – Intermediate’ is coming soon so watch this space!!
This has been a great challenge, and a very educational one too, I did not realise how hard some of the challenges would be. I still stick rigidly to the salt and fibre that’s for sure.
We all made a fantastic effort and we all lost tons of weight!!! Between us we lost 120.5 pounds! I dare you all to try and pick that up at the gym the next time that you are there. We are ALL winners in this challenge and I was reluctant to announce winners and losers because that makes the people who didn’t win think that they did not gain something. No one on this challenge has anything to defeatist about what they have achieved, even if you lost a pound it is a pound lost and we are all the better for being more conscious about our weight and we all stuck to something and stuck with it too!! 12 weeks is a long time to stay dedicated to a project so EVERYONE is a winner.
However……………….There were a few who do need a mention!
In third place we have JDS17! She scored an amazing 565 points and lost an incredible 15lb!! way to go JDS!
In Second place we have Christalrae, this is an amazing achievement considering that she was a late starter to the challenge. She scored in with 576 points and an amazing 9lb lost! This is a great weight loss considering its harder when you have less to lose! Well done Christal!
And in first place, we have the clear winner of this challenge, she is dedication personified its Social work Sarah! She has consistently won the challenges and stayed focused. She managed an AMAZING 661 points and lost an astounding 38lb!! That’s a small child she has managed to shift! Sarah we take our hats off to you!
I love to eat cucumbers and onions in vinaigrette. And Stir Fry. Yummy. Next week when I go to the store I'm gona get some fresh pineapple.
Original Post by blueeyedchica:
I've been hungry for soup lately, will probably make a batch of vegetable soup this weekend. Tonight, I may throw African peanut soup together (canned tomato base with peppers and onions). Both freeze well. I'll be out of town next Mon. through Wed. unfortunately. But have a good goal and should be OK. I'm determined to lose a couple of pounds over the next two weeks.
blueeyed, how do you make your African peanut soup?
I was wondering the same thing!
Ok so I have changed the top post, sorry ladies my mistake. it is basically 7 points a day total.
No points for days off this time im afraid. I only did that as its good to let your body rest from exercise.
Sorry for the confusion everyone I hope this will clarify:
Eat 5 fruits and vegetables a day = 4 points = 56 points total
Drink at least 6 cups of water a day = 3 points = 42 points total
Weight loss as end of challenge = 2 points total
TOTAL POINTS FOR CHALLENGE = 100 POINTS!
How is everyone doing this time around? I am sorry I have not been around a lot, I just started a distance education course, and I am going on Vacation a week today so very busy at the moment!
This vegetable challenge has been great, I tried squash yesterday...yummy!
What has everyone else tried?
I have started frying (in Pam) my chopped veggies (onions, mushrooms, gr pepers, & zucchini), adding a little 2% cheese, fajita seasoning (just a little due to the sodium) and grilling my quesadilla on my Presto Pizza Oven. YUM!!!
I've also added 1 serving of low sodium v8 juice most days.
SORRY FOR THE DELAY AGAIN...PLEASE SEE THE NEW CHALLENGE AT THE TOP POST!
CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT THIS IS ALL NEARLY OVER!! YOU WONT BELIEVE THE STATS WHEN I TELL YOU WHAT WE HAVE ALL LOST COLLECTIVELY!
ITS GOING TO BE A TIGHT RACE TO THE FINISH AS WELL!!
GOOD LUCK LADIES!
It is so simple. Take a 28 oz. can of tomatoes. 8 cups of veggie broth, 4 cloves of garlic, chili powder to taste, sauteed onions (2 med.) and 1/2 a bag of frozen cut up peppers, 1 c. of brown rice (uncooked) and throw in a crockpot for a few hours (until rice is tender).
Stir in 1/4 c. peanut butter and then serve. I usually add a couple of dashes of hot sauce before eating.

END WEIGHT:
I got on the scales this morning and had lost 6lb!!!! I cannot believe it! my goal for my holiday was 199 and I leave on Monday so I am actually only 2 away from my goal which is excellent!
Just as a side note, I was put on a new anti-depressant the first of February. I have since found out that it is KNOWN for causing people to GAIN weght! Of course my Dr. didn't tell me this at the time! I still have managed to LOOSE 24.7 pounds in that time (15 weeks)!
I know this challenge has most definitely helped in that! Thank you so much again, Vixen!!!! ![]()
Last December, I had to get a Cortisone injection in my left knee. I had to get the injections in BOTH knees yesterday. OUCH!!! Cortisone use is also know for causing weight gain, so I'll just have to be extra careful. Especially since my ability to exercise is severely limited right now! ![]()
Interestingly enough, based on my normal diet, my fat grams usually come to about 65 per day, the UofM calculator said 64 for me. Looks like I was doing it right already! Of course, I wasn't really tracking what KIND of fat I have been eating, so that will be the new challenge for me!
Ooops. Double posted!
blueeyed, that sounds so yum. bvixen, 6 lb, way to go! suzi, that's freaking amazing weight loss on those meds. I'm considering going back on the pill, but I'm really worried about stalling my weight loss. It's hard enough as it is without meds getting in the way.
Got my 5-9 every day but one! Mmm, fruit and veg...
My recommended fat intake is 69 grams. I'm very pro-fat. I'm definitely not sticking to 69 or less every single day -- looking at my last 2 weeks I was under only 6 days (the other days were in the 70s and 80s... one day I went as high as 106 grams!!!). My average % fat intake in May so far is 33.6%. I usually cook in lots of extra virgin olive oil and also take 1-2 tbsp high lignan flax oil straight every day (11-22g fat) on top of everything else. I also love to drizzle on sesame oil when I cook Asian. I've found that if I don't eat plenty of good oil, my skin and hair really suffer. I haven't touched any trans fat for over 6 months though!
61 grams of fat intake for me.
Everyone has done so well, as soon as I get back I might start a new challenge its been really good fun, and has kept me very motivated!
I edited my post for the last challenge - aced that one (too easy)! And *drum roll* I'm officially out of the 300s! *does snoopy happy dance*
I've lost 8 pounds since I started this challenge (18 pounds since I joined CC last January). My weight loss has been very slow due to my hypothyroidism, for which I've had to learn to not compare my weight loss to others' seemingly meteoric progress. I know I'm doing the right things as far as eating healthier, drinking more water, and not giving up. My scale may be creeping towards my target weight at a sloth-like pace, but I'm okay with that. ![]()
This next challenge will be a cinch since I'm already 100% free of polyunsaturated fats. (That's a little joke there; very little.) ![]()
Thats awesome out of the 300's!! youl be under the 200's before you know it!
I am 2 pound away from being under the 200's and I am hungry for it!!
Hey Brit! Yeah, getting under 300 took me 5 months to do, but I did it! Yippee!
Under 200 is a long way away for me, so not quite feeling hunger pains for that goal yet. Actually, I'm hungry for some barbequed baby back ribs! ![]()
Hey everyone. According to the calc. my recommended fat intake is 54 g. BVixen - that site that you found is so cool. I don't know about everyone else, but I figured out more than just my fat intake. I did the fiber, protein, and carbs as well.
Thanks so much.
You can see the results for week 9 & 10 now, well done to the winners!!!
