diet 101 challenge......12 week challenge (FULL.....AGAIN!)

A 12-week challenge that will educate you on the various powerhouse foods, as well as keeping you focused on a healthy weight loss.

Set out in 2-week increments with a weight in every second Friday. The goal is to earn as many points as possible that are made up of weekly challenges and bonus rounds. While doing all of these challenges the focus is still on healthy eating, exercise and weight loss.

·            Week 1& 2        Make friends with fibre (Begins March 7th)

·       &n bsp;    Week 3 & 4        Good salt Bad Salt (Begins March 21st)

·       &n bsp;    Week 5 & 6              H20 Wahooooo (Begins April 4th)

·       &n bsp;    Week 7 & 8        Gym Gym Gym (Begins April 18th)

·       &n bsp;    Week 9 & 10       Fruits and Vegetables Galore (Begins May 2nd)

       &nb sp;     Week 11 & 12     Fatty Fatty Fatty (Begins May 16th)


Please post all stats and points in one post, and edit every 2 weeks)

Weigh in every 2nd Friday, weight and points must be posted by Sunday.

RESULTS!!

So Ladies here it is the end of the challenge!!  This 12 weeks has flown by! IT has been great fun and the  ‘Diet 101 – Intermediate’ is coming soon so watch this space!!

This has been a great challenge, and a very educational one too, I did not realise how hard some of the challenges would be. I still stick rigidly to the salt and fibre that’s for sure.

We all made a fantastic effort and we all lost tons of weight!!! Between us we lost 120.5 pounds! I dare you all to try and pick that up at the gym the next time that you are there.  We are ALL winners in this challenge and I was reluctant to announce winners and losers because that makes the people who didn’t win think that they did not gain something. No one on this challenge has anything to defeatist about what they have achieved, even if you lost a pound it is a pound lost and we are all the better for being more conscious about our weight and we all stuck to something and stuck with it too!! 12 weeks is a long time to stay dedicated to a project so EVERYONE is a winner.

However……………….There were a few who do need a mention!

In third place we have JDS17! She scored an amazing 565 points and lost an incredible 15lb!! way to go JDS!

In Second place we have Christalrae, this is an amazing achievement considering that she was a late starter to the challenge. She scored in with 576 points and an amazing 9lb lost! This is a great weight loss considering its harder when you have less to lose! Well done Christal!

And in first place, we have the clear winner of this challenge, she is dedication personified its Social work Sarah! She has consistently won the challenges and stayed focused. She managed an AMAZING 661 points and lost an astounding 38lb!! That’s a small child she has managed to shift!  Sarah we take our hats off to you!

i havent lost any weight and am goin shoppin tday ...lazy me but im gna have a fibre filled dinner:)

the pdf was awesome....u mstve really put time and effort into it.....kudos..

was checkin sme labels ....did ya know tht special K cereals vanilla almond has 1g(6%) of fibre and flavored oatmeal has 2g(8%)but cocoa pebbles cereal has 3 g (12%)of fibre...hmmm 

gna do sme more hunting

I have an 18 oz plastic Dixie cup that I keep refilling.  I'm finishing my 3rd now with lunch (54oz).  I'll have 37.5 grams of fiber by the end of the day (10 come from my slim rite drinks - so I won't count them, but that will still be 27.5 grams today!)

 

 

Isnt it amazing when you read labels, I just figured that fish has 0 fibre, like not even trace LOL.

I will have had 35 grams of fibre, i had 18 just with breakfast LOL as I add all bran buds to shreddies LOL

I like to drink from a glass jug that I refill at work, and im not on the 2nd filling of it. :)

I totally agree, the water part is hardest for me, too.  I bought some All Bran with Extra Fiber and 12-grain bread, so the fiber will be a cinch.  Have a great weekend!
Seriously though......After my dry run last week, boy oh boy, what goes in must come out!!! and it did.....hugely!! LOL

So keep that water intake up, to make the passage smoother if you get my drift!! and be aware of gas!! its deadly and hardly ever silent!! LMFAO!!!

You do have to be careful about that in the gym, ESPECIALLY if you wear earphones! Tongue out

LMFAO!!! The funniest thing was last night when I bent down next to where my husband was sitting to pick a bit of fluff off the floor and............LOL it sounded like I had a duck stuck up my bum!! LOL my hb was disgusted and asked when this fibre challenge was going to be done LOL and then burst out laughing.

I did 40 grams of fiber today. I was surprised that I didn't have to struggle to get the 25 grams :)

The water part is easy for me. I addicted to water. Other than my morning coffee I rarely drink anything else :) 

I'm somewhat off the diet wagon :(

    I was good on friday until my neighbour came down with home made cup cakes, these things are like crispy creme doghnuts.....addictive!! I ate 2!!

But I didnt eat anything else bad, so been quite good, although this challenge is hard when you have to eat enough fibre and still trying to diet!!

weekends are always worse for me too but tommorow is another day :)

Sweet potatoes rock the fiber casbah.  And herbal tea keeps me hydrated and happy. 

Gotta go buy some Gas-X, though...

    sitting here eating all bran as I type LOL,  I totally meant to get some sweet potato  I love those, but they didnt have any at the store :( I made a brocoli soup last night it was wicked!!! 

Funny timing! I get emails from a couple he one I got in today is entitled "Easy Ways to Boost Your Fiber Intake"!

The final line is too funny! "A large increase in fiber over a short period of time could result in bloating, diarrhea, gas, and all-around discomfort. It is better to add fiber to your diet gradually over a recommended period of about three weeks, to avoid abdominal problems."

    Wow thats interesting, When I first started eating a lot of fiber I had stomach ache, i guess the trick is not to over do it. 25 grams is the daily recomended allowance.

So hope no one has any of those symproms!

yes... like sarah said drinkin water was the easy part fr me...

tght itd be easy to meet the fibre requirement but amazingly not...first day i dnt... thn second day i had to put bran flakes into my oatmeal....yucky :( and it came out the same way too...

dnt cheat much on the diet .. had a beer though...its beer week in r city this week ,...cudnt resist..lol 

 

    Its harder than you think isnt it! I had to eat all bran as my snack yesterday to get enough. Thats why this challenge is great as it shows you when you think your getting enough of everything your tottally not LOL.

I am sitting here at the moment with a soy smoothie for breakfast it consists of

1 cup frozen strawberrys
1 cup soy milk (strawberry flavoured)
1 tbs flax

it kicks fiber a** and has 6 grams of fibre and tastes awesome!! works out about 200 cals too.
