guilt free chocolate cake janella   Feb 09 2006 10:36 hey guys here is a recepie for the most moist, guilt free cake ever.

1 chocolate cake mix
1 can diet coke (any diet cola works, even Wal-mart brand)

mix and bake as directed. (no I am not kidding)
cool and add fat free cool whip
Enjoy
according to Weight Watchers this snack is only 3 POINTs a slice.

For you Angel food cake lovers

1 Angel food cake mix
1 can of diet Sprite or 7-up (generic works as well)

Mix and bake as directed and enjoy with Strawberries and free cool whip. (this is also 3 Points for the cake an cool whip, just add points for fruit)
oh my...

*writes it down*
I made it this weekend - excuse me while I wipe the slobber off the keyboard!  it really was that good:)

I am soooo trying the angel food cake one next - thanks!
what is the portion and calories for this cake? I want to try it.
Thanks so much!!!:):)..cant wait to try this out!
Wait, you don't need eggs or butter or anything? Just soda? Can this be
possible? I looove baking cakes, maybe I can experiment....
I agree, do you need eggs, water, etc??

If you look on the nutrition information on the box of the mix it will propably say how many calories it has for just the mix uncooked. Well, then just add like 1 or 2 calories for the diet coke and that should give you a pretty good estimate!
definately gonna try... hopfully this week.
tay.. diet coke does not have any calories in it so all you do is add
the calories for the size piece you made from the "dry mix" section on
the nutrition label on the cake mix.. :)   and yup.. you don't
need eggs, or water, or oil.. i made one on friday and it is
fabulous!!

oh.. and try it with pop made from splenda (instead of aspertame) because there won't be any after taste, aspertame breaks down with heat causing a bitter taste
About aspertame though, why does it have to be diet?

After all, a serving of cake is 1/12 the batter. If you get one can of regular coke, each serving only has one ounce of coke, it's 12.5 extra calories per serving...I just think that's worth it.
oK I just got it out of the over..looks/smells great...! Will edit post once cake has cooled..LOL ..EDITED BIT...OK heres the thing..I was real good..but its acctually almost gone..lol..by the time Id given the 4 kids some ..2 had seconds..lol..the neighbours got 4 peices, I had 1 that leaves 1 bit left for hubby (maybe) ..hahaha It was real  good !!! and way lower in cholesterol as my mix called for 3 eggs!
I think that would be just too sweet for me.  I once made a cake that everyone raved about.  It was a box of angel food cake mix and a can of crushed pineapple with juice, mixed well and baked in a sheet pan.  I didn't like it because it was icky sweet.

I wonder if plain club soda would do the trick.  The next time I see a cake mix on one of those dollar sales, I'm going to try it!  I love cake and desserts.
cekurs- i don't know.. i made one and the reason i like it is that it's not super sweet.. i don't like overly sweet cakes at all and this one i love!  let us know if you make it how you liked it.. :)

I made the cake tonight...OH MY GOODNESS!

Now I need to find ways to get rid of the rest of it so I don't eat it all...
Mmmmm....several things come to mind...

1.Chocolate w/ coke
2. Chocolate w/ cherry coke
3. Vanilla w/ Mountain Dew
4. Vanilla w/ black cherry vanilla coke
5. Vanilla w/ cherry vanilla dr. pepper
6. Vanilla w/ code red Mountain Dew
7. Lemon w/ Mountain Dew
8. Vanilla w/ orange soda
9. Chocolate w/ root beer

Luckily I dont have cake mix at home, so I haven't tried anything yet.
I am so glad that you all like the cake.  It is so good that it is unbelieveable that it is low fat and low cal.  I had no idwa that I would start a new craze in desserts.  I got  it from my grandma who is a lifetime member of weight watchers.  She is one hot grandma.  She looks incridible. And has kept the weight off.
Between my 4 kids and the neighbours I had NO trouble finding a home for the other 11 peices of cake..lol..As I was under cals I decided to mke up for things with a HUGE fruit salad..1 banana..(sm) 1 orange..5 strawberries and 20 grapes..I figure 180cals..but good cals..If I dont get enough potassium after this I give up..lol..

would be easy to get into that cake habit..! Wonder how the cake was first discovered..who said.."Hey I have no eggs and no oil,,lets throw in a can of coke instead!?" how strange is THAT?..tasty yes but very strange. Thanks again Janella...I will be making a few this summer for church ect. will be fun telling people what it is!

By the by... I skipped the cool whip.. Its so moist It doesnt need frosting..
I had a chocolate cake mix in my kitchen for 3 months because my husband and son don't really like sweets.  That means my 4-year-old daughter and I would HAVE to eat the whole thing.  I made the cake 2 days ago with a can of Diet Dr. Pepper.  Needless to say, it is almost gone, but I don't feel guilty this time.  It was a double pudding cake and it was more dense than I thought it would be.  Almost like a brownie.  I'm going to try some of the other combinations mentioned above.  Plus, my daughter was able to make this cake herself (she loves helping in the kitchen).  No measuring!  How much easier can it get!!!!
I wanted to try it with Dr. Pepper, but I only had Diet Coke in the pantry. I will also try it with Diet Sunkist next time!

It was delicious - I served it to my boyfriend and two of his friends and didn't tell them what was in it. They were all amazed! I served it with those little publix fudge sundae cups - they're only 100 calories each.
OMG! I am soooo trying this! Ive had cake mixes in my cupboard forever and I havent wanted to  make it because they are soooo full of calories ect... But Im going to try it for sure!
