Too much diet coke?

In summer time I drink more diet coke than I normally do. It tastes so nice and refreshing when it is hot outside! I drink about 3-4 cans a day (33cl). I know it isn't the healthiest thing but I'm wondering if it could make you retain water weight? Besides the diet coke-summer addiction I do drink enough water.

That is not too bad though. There are people out there that drink so much more. If it helps make some diet ice tea or crystal light. My husband hardly buys soda so when we do get it I drink about two glasses a day. I totally agree that it tastes amazing on a hot day! Smile

My friend was just like you... drank quite a lot of Diet Coke.   It was her dentist that eventually got her to quit because the acid was eroding her tooth enamel. 

If I were you, I'd buy one 12-pack case of diet coke each week and some Crystal Light :)  Don't deny yourself something you enjoy.. I personally stopped buying diet coke and I just drink it when I go out.. it's a huge treat!

Another option - but a small bottle, and have it with a glass of ice... then you're keeping it cool and drinking much less of a sugary powerhouse.

Sorry, sugary is the wrong word - faux-sugar powerhouse.Which, in some ways is even worse - aspartame has links to cancer.

I used to be a huge "Diet Coke head" until I had my big weight loss back in 2002.  I started using lots of Nutrasweet products (Aspartame), and then out of nowhere I started getting really, really sick whenever I had any Nutrasweet.   Now I can't have it anymore or I experience fatigue, headache, nausea, dizziness.

Once at a movie theatre I ordered a Coke and they gave me a Diet Coke by accident and I was sick for two days.

 

It probably won't happen to you this way. I dieted intensely (using lots of fake sugar) for 10 months. (lost 80 lbs)  But I strongly encourage people to limit Aspartame just in case.  Google it, it's known to make people very ill.  And yes, there are links to Cancer. 

I've kept my weight off these years without *any* fake sweeteners.  I won't even use Sucralose (Splenda).  Bottom line is, Diet Coke isnt doing you *any* favors.  How about a nice iced green tea with a little honey?
