Yeah, I have heard that about sugar substitutes before....

I've never really been a fan of the diet coke, though....it is almost TOO sweet for my taste buds!

Diet Coke Article....same as above, just click-able :)

thank you so much for posting this!!! I used to be addicted to diet coke....but stopped, but have always wanted to drink it again..

Now I got some good reasons why not to!!

Unfortunately, that article's mostly crap.  Calorie intake doesn't matter?  You should cut out all sugar (including fruit) from your diet?  Not so much.  I'm not saying that Diet Coke is good for you by any means, but it doesn't actively make you fat.  (I'll believe the appetite enhancement claim, but the "prevents you from burning fat" claim is just wrong.)  In terms of credentials, my PhD in Organic Chemistry beats the author's MSc in Organic Chemistry.  Not that either of those is a qualification to write an article on nutrition.  Laughing

Whew!  Thanks for debunking.  I like a cup of green tea in the afternoon for a pick-me-up.  I usually add some splenda to sweeten it.  Thank goodness I don't have to cut out my splenda.  I have so few of my favorite things left!

I've lost almost 30 pounds (29.6 to be precise) and I used to drink diet coke at lunch and dinner and now I only drink it during lunch. Something about cup'o noodles and a can of diet coke... so satisfying. :3

I have lost 34 pounds in the last 3 months.  I drink diet coke all the time.  It didn't hinder my weight loss at all.

You can't really say it didn't hinder your weight loss at all because you don't know how much weight you would have lost if you didn't drink it.

As far as Diet Coke goes, how could ingesting a manmade chemical be better for you then having natural sugar? At least your body knows what to do with sugar, it has no idea what to make of artificial sweeteners. If the article helps people cut out soda, even diet soda, from their diets, it is a good thing. Eat an apple or orange at lunch and skip the soda. You will feel better afterward.
