Diet Pill Scams

Quote  |  Reply

I would like to start a new topic to discuss the  many weight loss scams out there. Share our weight loss scams information and educate each other so we don't get caught in these underhanded scams.

Unfortunately, I recently got caught in a Phentermine scam, where the online pharmacy (247 Phentermine) assured me I could order phentermine without a prescription, Instead they sent me what the termed an "amazing non-prescription weight loss alternative,” which was nothing more than a Hoodia product. They charged me the full price of the Phentermine 30 day supply I had ordered, which was $89.95 (plus shipping). I can get the same "amazing Hoodia alternative" elsewhere for $40. What a rip off!

Sites that claim to be able to fill Phentermine prescriptions without a prescription are lying to you, it cannot be done. Read their Terms and Conditions very carefully, inevitably you will find a clause that allows the site to send you the herbal alternative to Phentermine if you doctor does not approve the request (which he won’t) for the same price!

Don't get caught in this scam!

I don't really trust weight loss pills at all; my mom took them after one of her pregnancies (i'm one of six) and she said that she got really skinny but she thinks it may have messed up her metabolism ever since. :/ and since I have all the same genetics as her.. I stay away.
I have always felt that if it were that easy- you know- to take a pill & just lose weight- well, we'd all be skinny.  So, they don't work.  Yeah, I hear crystal meth makes you skinny too, but that doesn't mean you should take it :-)
^^hahahahaha.
Amen
If any diet pills are effective, they should be used to compliment a weight loss diet and exercise plan.  I take green tea pills with caffeine for an energy boost now and then.  Supposedly they burn an extra 100 calories a day, so once every month or so, I'd see an extra pound come off, but I doubt that.

As far as I'm concerned ALL diet pills are scams, one way or another.  Most are unhealthy stimulants.  I'd rather just eat right and exercise more, than to look for some magic pill or fad diet.

Meth makes you skinny?

I'm glad I have all of my favorite drug dealers on speed dial. :D

The question is, who's fault is it?  The scammers or the scammees?

As long as people keep shelling out bucks for their dreams of a quick, effortless fix, there will be people willing to rake in those bucks.  It is a sad truth.

In a society where instant gratification is the norm, who wants to eat well and exercise for results that they should be able to buy in a pill?
I have tried just about every diet pill there is......none worked, or they gave me stomach problems.  I recently took Hydroxycut Hardcore for body building.  I was fine for a month then a month ago I walked into the gym...got dizzy..my heart rate sky rocketed, everything went black.  Next thing you know I was in an ambulance getting EKG, blood sugar test..etc. They told me it was from the diet pill. I told them I had been taking it for over a month.  They said that your body finally gets used to the pill, but it says :best results in 4-8 weeks" = Trip to the ER.  I also have taken Cortislim, Female Fat Burner, Red Line, Xantrex 3, Lipo 6, Trim Spa, Lipodrene With EFEDRA.....all will just speed your heart up.  So your resting heart rate is 130 instead of 60-90.  So when you mix that with cardio= heart attack..your body cannot cope...i found out the hard way.....Best thing is to Drink Protein shakes and take a multi vitamin.  Diet and exercise, and healthy supplements are ok.
cindylou1055, you scared me completely ou of the diet pill aisle at WalMart.

My mom used to try various things from there, and admittedly, I always read bottles and wondered, "What if.." but yeah, that "what if" turned into a "hell no."

Most diet pills are what doctors are calling legalized speed.  Some are downright dangerous and others just make you super jittery.  I've tried Dexatrim, Dexatrim with Green Tea, and most recently Alli.  Dexatrim regular made me more hungry and cottonmouthed.  Dexatrim Green Tea made me nervous and jittery.  Alli - now there's a diet pill that literally scares you into being good.  If you don't follow the plan you will s**t your pants!  Ugh!!

I have been following a sensible diet plan for about 2 months now and have lost about 9 pounds so far.  JUST SAY NO TO DIET PILLS!!
I don't think you should take anything that isn't doctor prescribed.  You wouldn't buy high blood pressure meds over the internet without a prescription....

Having said that and read all of the comments posted here, I feel I should state my experience with diet pills.  I have been on phentermine (prescribed by my doctor) for 10 weeks.  I have 30 days left on it.  My doctor put me on it for a limited period of time to give me a jump start on weight loss.  And it has totally worked.  I have lost 38lbs so far.

I have also been able to improve my eating habits and begin an exercise program.  I am very obese and have been for over 10 years.  I needed help, something to push me into a healthy lifestyle.  I have used the phentermine and it's reduction in my appetite and increased energy to change my life.

I think if you use these drugs properly they can be very beneficial.  However, I also think there is a lot of crap out there that isn't even worth trying so DON'T!

Bethystan, congratulations on the 38lbs weight loss so far :)

Have you had any negative side effects on prescription Phentermine? I had wanted to try it, but my doctor would not prescribe it, she said I didn't need to lose enough weight. I am interested to know what the side effects are and why doctors are prefer not to prescribe it.
