Hi this is my first post and I just wanted to see what people's opinions on diet pills were. My aunt swears by them, but I'd rather just cut back and work out more. I'm just curious to see if anyones tried them.

Edit:

I just want everyone to know I don't support the use, I have never known anyone whos used them besides my aunt and wanted to get a different opinion.

Thanks for the help though.

=)

If there was a pill that actually made people lose weight, why is there still an obesity epidemic?

"if fitness came in a bottle, everyone would have a great body"

If the pills REALLY worked for long term weight loss, they would be WAY to expensive for the normal folks to afford....

plus, if you look....they all say they work along WITH diet and exercise...well if you diet and exercise, ya don't need the pills!

A good reason not to take them (other than not wasting your money) http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28355841/

Yeah thats what I thought.  Ill show my aunt that website thanks!

Calorie Count is all about healthy and sustainable weight loss. I don't know about which specific diet pill you refer to as some diet pills are doctor prescribed, but generally at Calorie Count we do not support the use of diet pills for routine weight loss.

These threads may be useful if you or your aunt want to lose weight on Calorie Count but don't know where to begin.

Hi, I have previously used FatBlaster and Fatblaster maxx which was about 3 years ago, before I got married. I was on them for just over a year and in total to my wedding day I had lost 18 kilos. This was with trying to eat right but I did play a lot of sport.

I know it doesn't work for everyone, but I was very happy with the outcome and I didnt have any side effects from taking them.

How old are you? You look so young. No diet pills and "diets" do not work. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Diet pills will just make you sick. You look very young and teens need more calories than an adult. You look perfectly healthy. Just eat a balanced diet and exercise that is the key.

I'm 19. & yeah thats what I do. I was just inquiring because my aunt tried giving me some, but no worries, I'm not trying anything like that.

I've competition danced for years and played all kind of sports but I had to stop for college so some weight piled on, but believe me, I know excersize is the key because without it my body freaks outtt.

=)

Good for you. Don't let anyone give you any diet pills. Just keep a positive attitude, try to eat well and exercise. Good luck.

Coming from someone who has used.. and relied on diet pills for over 10 years, I can say I have lost more weight when NOT on them.  In fact, I feel better over all and have tons more energy, because it's natural energy.

My problem was that I assumed it was the catch-all and thought they would work if I just kept on using them.  Now, I am somewhat convinced that my body simply modified itself to balance out with the pills.

They can be like a drug; when I finally stopped taking them I had a day or two of serious withdrawl... horrible headaches, sleeping all day long.

I have only been trying to do this naturally, but cutting calories and working out for about 3 weeks now and this is the first time in 10 years that I'm actually seeing a difference!

I've definitely tried some of the 'apetite supressing' caffeinated drugs, but I all they really did was make me feel sick and I never wanted to work out.  I find if I eat well, I feel good and have lots of energy, so I want to workout and do things (that burn calories), so in the end I am in much better health and generally lighter while just exercising and eating good foods than I ever was taking caffienated diet pills and being jittery, pissed-off, nauseous and lethargic all the time.

How long has your aunt been swearing by them?  If it's been any length of time that just goes to show that pills do not support longterm weight loss, and they definitely don't support the notion that a healthy lifestyle is the best way to attain a healthy body at a healthy weight.

I vote no to diet/weight loss pills.

She was extremely large for a long long time. She worked out and ate better and took the pills to help with her appitite and she dropped over a hundred pounds. Now she teaches kick boxing and excersize classes at her husbands gym and has maintained her healthy weight for a few years now. So shes not on them now, but I can see why she thinks they were her personal savior. I was just seeing if her success was a fluke or something else.
