There are no diet pills out there that work. Its all total BS if you ask me.

Think about it, if there was this "1 magical pill" that did it all, wouldn't you think it would be all over the news, CNN, Dateline you name it? Doctors would be giving them out to all people who were obease... it would change the world.

No pills work... sorry
I disagree that none of the pills work.  I know people that have lost weight, a lot of it, using diet pills.

For example, my employer/friend used them to lose weight, and he did, and he kept the weight off, but he sure was horrible to work with while he was on the diet.  He was super-sensitive and grouchy all the time, and that was on a good day.

My daughter used an herbal remedy that included ephedra (sp?), and she had a lot of success.  It really killed her appetite.  She experienced a little bit of edginess at first, but she adjusted to it.  She eventually gained the weight back, but that would have happened no matter which way she lost the weight.

The pills aren't magic -- if they don't siginficantly reduce your appetite they won't work.  And if you don't also develop good eating habits AND MOST IMPORTANT, maintain those good eating habits after you've lost your weight, then it will come back on.

No diet or method, no matter how healthy, will keep the weight off if you go back to your old eating habits.
I think it's all just your mind-set.. I used to use diet pills all the time, but I think as long as you eat well and exercise your going to lose weight, some of those supplements just give you energy from caffeine. I know some prescriptive pills cause people to lose weight but uhh we can't really use those. :-) I used slimquick this past summer and dropped 10 lbs but I was also eating well and working out so I bet I would've lost weight either way but it did help me with supressing my appetite or atleast I thought it was.

Don't put all your faith in the diet pill, you still need to create healthy habits for life
They don't work, It's a waste of time, that's all you need to know. :D
I don't think diet pills work. Atleast not in the long run. Sure, you may drop 10 pounds in a month, but I bet you once you stop taking them you will gain back 15 pounds!! It is not realistic or healthy to lose more than 2 pounds a week for weeks at a time. You will gain that weight back and then some! That is why I'm sticking to my slow and steady method. I know in the end I WILL lose all of the weight, but most importantly, I will keep the weight off for the rest of my life!!
I did diet pills when I was young...as soon as I stopped...the weight came rushing back...and more...

I feel like I set myself up for failure with every new fad diet I tried...each time the weight came back worse than before and I skewed my metabolism in the process...

The only thing that can change the behavior that causes weight gain is you..inside, you have to do the work...
Manewell got it in one.

Nothing works, long term, if you aren't willing to change the way you eat or get active. Nothing. Not Diet Pills. Not Fad Diets. Nothing.

Because eventually you stop taking the pills or stop the diet and then you balloon up again.

The only way to win is to change the way you eat, and/or change your activity levels. Period.

Now.. Diet Pills are a mixed bag. Some simply don't work. They're a total waste of your money. Some work, but have dangerous side effects. And some work exactly how you want, but again.. if you aren't willing to change how you eat, you're just gonna get fat again.

So.. my suggestion, to one and all is.. skip the Diet Pills and the Fad Diets and work on eating better, on exercising, on making a lifestyle change to someone who can maintain a weight loss.

Hi, you can try this site: http://www.4starhealth.com/wlkp-diet_pills.ph p  for more info..

Hope that helps you answer your question.
actually there is. Phentermine  (sp?) which is a prescription diet pill works wonders because it supresses your apetite like you wouldn't believe. the generic for this pill is Fastin.

the only thing about taking any diet pill is that you gain the weight back as soon as you stop taking it. i used to take this pill and it worked wonders and i lost so many pounds but over time i would take it on and off and i would go up and down in weight and it gets depressing after a while of dealing with that.

i have found that the best way of dieting is simply to do it the right way, i've started keeping track of what goes in my mouth and stopped eating junk. i've also started working out a lot. believe me, i'll be the first one to tell you it's hard as hell but it's so worth it when you put your skinny jeans on and they actually fit!

good luck!
Hello all.  I just signed up today on this website and was reading your stories on diet pills.  I had my third child in August 1997 & I stared taking a supplement called Natural Trim w/ ephreda.  By December 1997 I was 5 lbs under my pre-pregnancy weight.  After that I slimmed down another 10 lbs and was extremely underweight.  Of course I was not complaining at the time of my size 0/2 figure,  but I had health issues like irregular periods, hair loss, anorexia just to name a few.  I stopped taking the pills and over the past 9 years the weight has crept back up on me.  Ephreda has been banned in the US and no other supplement has worked like that did.  I just want to lose a few pounds so I'm trying the "right" way for once.  I am very active and work out at least 4 days a week and walk my dog every day but I cannot lose any weight.  I started taking 5-htp for calming my nerves and I've read that it is supposed to help w/ weight loss but hasn't done much for me.  Has anyone heard of 5-htp and it's benefits?
ephedra is only 5 molecules different from crack cocaine; that's why it supresses your appetite, and that' why it's illegal now.
ephedra is horrible and it depends on the person, I've heard horrible stories about it and it can mess up your body in the future when using some diet pills even if the work to lose the weight, it's not worth it!!!!

Back when I tried something (didn't know what was in it at the time, but it was ephedra), it worked but after 10 days my body had a toxic reaction and I immediately stopped.  I was taking allergy meds at the time with pseudephedrine in them which is a form of ephedra and it was awful.  I had panic attacks, couldn't sleep, was purging everything, and was so jittery I couldn't take it.  Then I did research...that was many years ago.  So I switched and tried and ephedra-free diet pill and it was not as bad, but still had side effects.  I kept getting eye twitches and it just didn't feel right.

Healthy eating, that's what is best for your body, PERIOD!  Don't try to take the shortcuts, they are not good for you in the long run! I'm not trying to preach, but seriously, if you're thinking of doing anything, research, research, research before you leap!  You will always find stuff pro-diet pills, but find the certified medical stuff about them.
The only "pill" I take is a nutritional supplement with added green tea extract.   Green tea is supposed to increase your metabolism.  But I don't take the pills for that, I take them to make up for the nutrients I may not be getting that day because I am eating below maintenance.
I'm happy to say the only pill I take is my Flintstones Chewable Multi-vitamin every day ;D
Every person I've known to do diet pills, have lost weight, but then gain it back. I think that is due to not changing their lifestyle though.
I am trying "NV" now. Basically, I cant take anything with alot of caffeine or speedy stuff because I HATE that feeling (I get bitchy and angry....I am ok on coffee but in pill form...YIKES!).

NV has green tea, hoodia, and some extra stuff thats good for your skin, hair, and nails.. so its a "diet and beauty" pill in one.

Now, I am not expecting to lose tons of weight on this and become hot all of a sudden. However, green tea IS good for you and I guess hoodia isnt bad either. The other stuff is needed anyways to help with hair, skin, etc. Iv heard good things about it on a news program and online. I know its not a magic pill though..
Yeah, the healthiest 'diet' pill I can think of is hoodia...all natural if i'm not mistaken.
I tried hoodia once......it gave me a very uneasy feeling.  Like I drank too much coffee and couldn't get it out of my system.  It was from this company that had a 30 day money back guarantee.  I felt awful after one day of taking the pills so I immediately sent them right back.  It almost took 30 days to get my credit!  If you don't turn those things back in right away you don't get your money back.  What a scam!  I think the right advice is listed above....there is no wonder pill out there, eat right, discipline yourself and yes...exercise.
Just a side note to be careful.  I was recently put on thyroid medication and one of the biggest rules is that you are not allowed to take diet pills on thyroid medicine.  So, make sure you look for drug interactions if you even think about it.

Check out webmd.com if you want to check for interactions
I used to take xenedrine back when they still had ephedra in them and yes they worked but OMG I was the crankiest most emotional person. I think they were slowly making me crazy.

Once ephedra was banned diet pills started upping the caffeine in them to make up for it. When I took those I felt cracked-out (not that I authentically know what that feels like) I was jittery, could not concentrate and felt nauseous.

If you really feel a diet pill can help you, look for the most natural ingredients. My boss (5'4" 110lbs) swears by green tea. But nothing is going to work without a healthy diet and exercise.
