MY Diet Plan-Help&Suggestions!

Quote  |  Reply

Hi, everyone for the rest of the summer i plan to plan out my days and here are some things I might have.

9 AM-Breakfeast: yogurt, nature valley bar, piece of fruit (200)

11 AM-Snack- Serving of crackers and a piece of babybel cheese (110)

1 PM-Lunch-Soup and 2 babybel cheeses or serving of crackers (300)

3 PM-Snack- Fat Free ranch dip and veggies (About 65)

5 PM-Snack- Yogurt, granola bar, piece of fruit (200)

7 PM- Dinner (300)

1,175

Then later I have a dessert.

This varies by day, i don't always have these exact snacks but their always around this amount.

I feel like I'm having too many snacks. But then after dinner i still have over 300 calories left. It's now 3:30 and I'm a little hungry but confused. Should I eat like this? Should i eat fewer amount of snacks of more calories or bigge rlunches and only one snack? HELP! should i not have a mid-morning snack? HELP!

i've always heard that several snacks are better than a few big meals - so i'd say you're going in the right direction?

I've heard that too, apparently eating little and often helps your metabolism stay more constant so that you burn more calories

Does Eating Little and Often Help Weight Loss?

Yes, it is generally believed that eating three smaller regular meals, plus mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks is the best way to lose weight.

Regular eating tends to maintain a balanced sugar level in the blood, prevents hunger and helps us to avoid overeating.

Eating little and often is also believed to maintain our metabolism at peak rate.

found this on a website :)

That makes me feel much better and helps me! do you think as a whole I'm eating enough calories? i don't want to eat not a lot and lsoe weight then get to my goal weight, eat like 1700-2000 calories and gain weight!

Do you know how much you'r egenerally suppsoed to eat on maintenance?

This site recommends that my daily goal for intake of calories is 1400, so whilst losing weight i try to have between 1200 and 1400 each day, then when i want to stop losing weight i'll have between 1500 and 1700 each day. i dont think i'll ever be a person who can eat the full 2000 calories per day without gaining weight, as i simply dont do enough exercise to burn that off all day! For my weight at the moment (185lbs) and height (5'4) my basal metabolic rate is about 1600 so i think eating around this mark each day when i have reached my goal weight should maintain my weight! so i'd say that find out what your basal metabolic rate is, and eat that many calories! i hope this helps xx

Oh and just in case you wonder, i used this website to help work out my BMR

Yeah, i didn't chec the website yet but I think that i won't be able to eat 2000 probably 17-1800. maybe 1900, but i don't know b/c I'm only 13, 5'5, supposed to be 5'8. I have no idea how many calories to eat. Right now I'm eating between 13-1500 but i have no diea what to do on maintenance.

Well, I have had to change my eating intervals so I can drop weight and inches.  While I am at work I eat a small piece of fruit like a plum, a large cucumber, and a slice of cheese.  For breakfast my trainer suggested oatmeal for breakfast.  Quaker has the 50% less sugar apples and cinnamon flavor which is quite tasty. For dinner i have 3 ozs of meat and a cup of vegetables.  My night time snack consists of celery with peanut butter or a rice cake with peanut butter.  I drinks lots of water and I walk 35 minutes in the treadmill at 3.5 mph and I use an exercise video like Tae Bo or Hip Hop Abs 4 days a week.  Since 5/23 to 7/30 16lbs gone and 15.5 inches burned!

by the way, before you indulge in that dessert, drink a glass of water and then revaluate your hunger.

Lorena440-

Obviously your doing a tremendous job but we're doing the same thing. I eat just as healthy as you and exercise puh-lenty. And when ! say dessert I mean an 100-cal pack or an 150-calorie weight watchers.

It sounds like you are doing a good job with the meals!  I just heard from my mom's doctor that having a bigger breakfast and a smaller dinner (instead of the usual small snacks then big dinner) helps keep you energized throughout the day and also helps you burn the calories off during the day.  I found that doing this and also not eating after 8pm has helped.

I try to remember that the more you eat for breakfast (in moderation of course) the more likely you are to burn those calories throughout the day.  Eating a huge meal 1 hour before bed means you will take those calories to bed with you.

Don't know if this helps or makes sense, but I hope it does.
