This is true. There are a ba-zillion articles here on CC and on the web regarding the effects of aspartame, the sweetener used in diet soda.
I'm not much of a pop drinker but my daughter is addicted to diet Dew and has been for several years. She cut back to 16 ounces a day and lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks without changing anything else in her diet. Granted she is about 50 lbs overweight but I'm pretty sure it has convinced her that her weight has a lot to do with the Diet Dew.
What about splenda? Does it have the same effects?
I always get the sugar-free frozen yogurt at yogen fruz. It's 108cals per bar.
Also, I drink diet iced teas and diet sodas... almost every day. I have been losing weight consistently still. But maybe it would come off faster if I stopped drinking diet sodas and switched to real juice and water??
I don't know much about any scientific evidence of diet coke and weight gain/loss, but I do know that I don't crave sweets as much now that I'm not drinking diet sodas. I stopped drinking diet coke and caffiene altogether about 2 weeks ago. I now hardly ever get cravings for sweets. It could be for other reasons, but I'm blaming it on the diet coke ;-)
Also, I've started noticing that my "naturally" thin friends drink real soft drinks... They generally don't drink coke a lot, but when they do, it's the non-diet kind...
