Do I have to ''diet'' for the rest of my life??

Sometimes when I'm over at a friends house, I spend a while looking through their cabinets to find something to eat (because they really don't have a lot of healthy food). They're joking when they say this, but they tell me I'm weird and that I should just eat ''normal'' (unhealthy) food. Even though I know they're joking, it gets to me and I kind of believe it, a little. Sometimes it seems like trying to eat and be healthy is a full time job and an everyday task that I have to complete. Every day I feel like I have to accomplish it and if I don't, I fail. I'm still going to eat healthy because I don't want to go back to my old ways, but do I have to ''diet'' for the rest of my life?? For example, measuring EACH thing I eat and counting EVERY calorie, EVERY SINGLE DAY. (I even measure how much milk I put in my cereal). I just want to be normal!! Help. Please.

I agree that eating healthy and caring for the body is an everyday task, and those who neglect it will lose their healthy and beauty. Too bad for them. But, it will be easier for you when you cultivate friends who share your values. Wouldn’t it be fun to entertain with wholesome food and gravitate to active play that burns calories while having fun? For now, if you are in the phase of active weight loss, it’s best to measure your food and count calories to see results. But once it becomes second nature, and you get to maintenance, you won’t have to be as fastidious, although it helps to spot check from time-to-time.
