Is there anything in diet soda that could be detrimental to weight loss?

I drink Diet Dr. Pepper and really don't care if it hurts me or not, lol. I quit smoking 3 years ago, and I credit DDP with keeping me on the straight and narrow. I do drink alot, but there are some things I just cannot give up.
