Hello, I am a 30 year old female and looking to lose 20 lbs.  I currently weight 150 and am 5'7.  I need a weight loss buddy.  I love to eat and drink wine, and am not a huge fan of going to the gym.  Please let me know if you want to be my buddy!  I am letting myself drink once a week (as opposed to 3 or 4 times).  Also am going to work out 4 times a week for at least 30 minutes.

Hi! I just saw your post- I am also a 30 year old female, looking to arrive at 130lbs. I am 5'4 and 16o; So, 30 lbs! I had a hard time writing that I can TOTALLY be 130 again! I had it in my head that I could only "realistically" be 140, but my "ideal" weight on here is 131, so I'm going to do it! I have started eating well again this past week and just found this site today. I am also not a big fan of going to the gym! I don't drink much (not like I used to when I lived in Boston anyhoo) but I can totally support you in that if we can support each other with the exercise thing; that may be my stubborn point... Write me back what ya think!

Hello,

I'm 27 and my weightloss goal was to lose 30lbs and I'm down 15. Let me tell you, I struggled going to the gym for the month of january, then after getting on this site feb 3rd and learning how much my body burns, I really started stepping it up...little by little.  The tips I can tell you is:

  • find out what you burn in a day. Chances are if you are like me, you ate way over that, so don't go overboard trying to cut cals right away. It'll only keep you hungry and tired. stick to about 300 deficit (less cals in then burned) or so and you should feel okay.
  • If you want to eat, eat. Try to pick foods high in fiber and protein, but if your sweet tooth is calling, answer. just make sure not to overdo it by adding all your food enteries to keep track. Seeing the number go up really helped me stop overeating.
  • Try to break a sweat every day...even if it's not at the gym (housework, playing with kids or pet....

Thanks so much for the tips!  I really appreciate it!  I need to get a scale I do not have one

Thanks Luxe, I definately could use a buddy!!!!!!

I added you as a friend jray! Def get a scale or if you are going to go to a/the gym, use theirs. Maybe we can plan on checking in with each other once or twice a week?? I don't really know the best "buddy system"! Maybe we should ask someone hahah! If you want to add me as a friend totally go for it, and maybe send me a "message"- I want to see if it goes to only my email of if it shows up here?.. So are you tracking your food on here? I plan on it. Keeping a food journal with calories is really a good way to go. It's not that hard, keeps things in check, and is a lot more low maintenance than it seems. You may already be two steps ahead! Is this the first time you have decided to lose weight? Did you just put on a bit of weight in the last few years? Msg me I'll msg you back!

Hi! I am 31 yrs old and I am 5'7" and I weigh 179 and I want to lose 40 - 45 lbs. I have also started today and I definitely need a buddy. I don't go to a gym but I go for walks, I have a treadmill and I do turbo jam and I have dance dance revolution. I love it for exercise.

Hi

My name is Cathy. I too need to lose some weight. I need to lose 40. I recently just gained 20 so need to get that back off. I am not big on the gym either. I have a hernia that limits me to do alot of exercises so all I can do is walk. I started today. I am not sure how this buddy thing works. I am new as of today so someone please help me???

I hope we can all help each other.

Well, I've been chatting with jray some and we are down with being buddies, have just started ect. Maybe we could give it another day for people to check this thread out, see who else finds a common bond here (goals, interests ect..) and possibly form a group of "buddies"? It will certainly be a benefit to us as "newbies" to kind of tackle this intense amount of information within a smaller setting! ♥

Great idea, the more support the better!!!!!!!!!  The first things I am going to do is buy a scale for me and a scale for my food!

Today is my first day but I have 50 lbs. to lose.  I'm not a big fan of the gym either.  But I have a big obstacle and that is I have no thyroid due to thyroid cancer.  It really bites because I was at a great weight until I went through all of that.  Hence the 50 lbs. I gained.  >>>sigh<<< I am 47 yrs. old and weight 199 lbs.

Hey everyone that has interest in being a buddy group~

I was trying to think of the best way to move forward to "form a group"... Maybe tomorrow evening we could start a new thread under the "new members" forum with a heading something like:

"newbies 4 buddy group, 20-50lbs, want to ♥ exercise, ages 25-50".

The age can totally be left off- it's just to narrow down the group size and encourage commonalities. I will post a link to this thread as a point of reference for people as well. Then from there we can form a name a few days later? Just an idea... rjay and I have been msging each other as buddies and that is a great thing to do within a small group as well! Give any input; more people will def join up once the new post is made ♥ Luxe
