dieting and menstrual cramps
Do you think dieting could bring on worse than usual cramps? If so why?
I wish I could blame mine on dieting. Mine are as bad as ever. Only demerol helps me :(
~H~
When I was severely underweight (about 98 lb @ 5'4") my period was a 2-day span of intense cramps (I'd literally be lying on the floor clutching my abdomen) and a light, sporadic flow.
Now it's sort of a happy medium. Cramps aren't too bad as long as I watch what I eat and exercise, and my flow usually only lasts 3 days (the first being somewhat heavy, and then light after that)
I've actually been having a more regular cycle and LESS trouble with it in general since I lost weight... I give the credit to the fact that I'm eating a lot better and having more vitamins etc. so my body is in better shape to handle it.
Like some people already stated, my cramps are a lot less if I'm eating well. I have these damn cysts and if I'm eating a bunch of processed crap they torture me.
I was kinda of wonder if I'm missing something in my diet right now? I take vitamins but, that you just can't count on getting vitamins.
I was hoping someone had some facts on the matter. Or stronger support than just "personally" .
Darn. I've heard the the having a big glass of milk can ward off cramps. So perhaps it's related to some kind of calcium or who knows it making just be that jolt of estrogen in cows milk???
Ironic, They have a cure for toe nail fugus and blad heads but, haven't find a better answer for painful cramps?!
Really though, PMS is truly a modern mystery. But I will tell you that last year I had some significant increase in my pain levels, and it turned out I had a problem. So if this is really a concern for you, go to your doctor-preferrably one who actually cares about our feminine issues. Good luck.
DDUGAN- Sorry to hear that. I had miserable cramps this past cycle 1 week of nothing but pain.
