Difficulty in exercising

I am not new to exercise. During the past year I generally worked out for 2 hours 5 days a week, usually running and lifting heavy weights.

However I have recently moved and cannot afford to join a gym. I am in class from 7:30am until 6pm. It gets light at 7 and dark at 5 and it is risky to go running at in the dark around where I am living. Therefore as an avid gym goer and runner in the past I am feeling a little stuck!

For the past 2 months I haven't done regular cardio activity. I have my own weights and lift heavy for 40 mins to an hour 3 times a week. I also walk for 50 mins a day to and from college.

However I am getting a little concerned that I am not doing any cardio activity! I have adjusted my calorie intake accordingly so it is not a weight issue but rather is longer periods without intense cardio ok?

Thanks in advance for anyone's input on this!

You can do circuit training with your weight set, which would be cardio.

Is longer periods w/o intense cardio ok? Well, are you training for something that requires intense cardio?

Cardio should be pretty easy really unless you hate the traditional calisthenics. You can do calisthenics, jump rope, step ups, HIIT with weights (like squat thrusts), pilates, boxercise, tae bo, etc. Cardio is one thing you don't need a gym for.

Does your school have a fitness room? They are pretty inexpensive or sometimes free... just a thought. Also, I agree with the jumping rope.

These statements are contradictory.

well i use weight training for strength and muscle conditioning and heavy/low reps isn't primarily cardio.

walking also has little impact on maintaining my cardio fitness bearing in mind that i used to run 10 miles on a regular basis. Therefore the significant change in cardio activity was what i was asking about.
