white bean dip - 2 cans of cannelloni beans, 1 head of roasted garlic, juice of 1 lemon, 1 T. olive oil - blend together (add more oil if you are ok with adding more, or some water to thin out the mixture so it blends), salt and pepper - really delicious with crudites!

Hummus bi Tahini Classic chickpea dip flavoured with garlic, lemon juice, cumin and sesame seed paste

Cucumber Raita  A classic Indian dip/side-dish of cool yoghurt, grated cucumber and fresh mint leaves

Low fat or fat free sour cream mixed with ranch dressing seasoning, or any kind of seasoning you like!

I find that a sweet/sour salad dressing makes a great, non filling dip.  Try it as an alternative to thick dips.

  • Tangy Orange Salad Dressing
  • I use this for all kinds of raw or steamed veggies, but this is really good with celery.

Fat free cottage cheese in a blender, blended til smooth, add French onion soup mix to taste. Delicious!

Wouldn't that be incredibly high in sodium?

Thanks for the recipe, it sounds awesome.  Going to buy the ingredients today.

I use Chobani Greek Plain Yogurt(fat freea) and mix "Good Seasons" dressing mix with it instead of fat free sour cream which is higher in calories than the greek yogurt. The calorie count is very low. You can also use mixes from Tastefully Simple if you know anyone who sells this. I have all of those recipes on my blog. www.nochefsallowed.blogspot.com

heres mine and it's low in fat and sodium.

1 small jar of artechoke hearts packed in water

1/2 of a small red onion

    1-2 cloves garlic

    1 T lemon juice

1/2 cup fat free greek yogurt

    2 T chopped fresh basil

    2 T grated parmesan cheese

    black pepper to taste

throw the onion and garlic in the food processor till minced. add artechoke and pulse, add everything else and pulse again. chill for at least 30 minutes and enjoy.

i've also used this in sadwiches as a kind of mock tuna back when i was a vegetarian.

    This one is super easy:)

You can use regular- to Fat free sour cream depending on your diet style.

Add one envelop of Lipton Vegetable Soup Mix (which is dehydrated veggies and seasoning only)

Mix reg size container of sour cream and powder Veggie mix in a Tupperware and refrigerate- at least 1 hour- 2- 3 is better  so ingredients  hydrate and become soft.

Really easy- Great for parties too- for the middle of veggie platters:)

I actually take a small bag of carrots, celery, broc., cauliflower or a mixture of all and spray the spray dressing in the bag.  I close the bag to let it marinade for a while and they are very good.  There are many varieties of the spray dressing now.  You do not have to use a lot of the spray.

My favourite is made on a base of fat-free sour cream (20 kcal per 2 tbsp)

1/2 cup fat free sour cream
