im obsessed with dipping. salsa, hummus, guac, ketchup, you name it and ill dip in it. this obviousy adds some extra calories, how do i ween myself off of this addiction?
If you kept to the lower-calorie dips like salsas and used raw vegetables rather than tortilla chips or breadsticks as dippers then it's really not going to add that many calories to your day.
However, what's the rest of your diet like? People who are constantly grazing either do so because they're bored or... quite often..... in an effort to make up some shortfall in either energy or nutrition. If your other meals are poor quality or lacking in substance that could be something to address. And if you're bored then find other things to do.
OMG I am so obsessed with dipping and spread! I seriously need to avoid them most of the time because I tend to go overbored. I dont really need to avoid salsa and veggies though because they are low cal.
Glad to know im not the only one!!!
It is all about sauce with me. A great, low cal dip, sauce or dressing can make very very low calorie meals satisfying. I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as you fill your fridge with the right dips.
there are things that you dont normally think about when dipping too that are very low cal.
Like mustard- raw veggies in mustard are great. Dipping veggies in soy sauce also adds barely any cals. Cabbage dipped in red wine vinegar. tomatoes dipped in basalmic vinegar. Jimica sticks dipped in ketchup, kind of like fries. look at raw vegan recipies for ideas, they have some creative stuff, if you stay away from all the nuts and seeds you should be safe, calorie wise
I couldn't live without them myself. Just plan for them in your budget!
Dip away as long as it's healthy.
keep in mind 2 tbsp is the size of a golf ball.
happy dipping
