Today I am, big time. I was looking forward to weighing in this morning and when the time came and I looked at that scale only to read that I had a one pound loss, well, to be completely honest, my shoulders slump due to my feeling of disappointment.
All week long I've been talking long walks, talking to the Lord about this and that. Thinking about my life and all that He's done to turn things around, etc.
All the things, the good life, that lies ahead.
So why am I allowing this little pound to bring me down?
I don't know the answer.
There's a scripture that I say practically all the time;

    Psalm 103:1-3
   Praise the LORD, O my soul;
       all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

  Praise the LORD, O my soul,
       and forget not all his benefits-

  who forgives all your sins
       and heals all your diseases,

I Know, I need to get refocused. I can't let this keep me down! God is working on my behalf. He's doing His part, now I have to do mine.

Okay, enough venting.....

Maggie - I know how disappointing a one pound lost can be, especially when you have been working hard.  DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED.  Stay faithful.  The experts say a 1-2 pound loss a week is good.  Sometimes when someone loses more than that - it could be water weight.  DO NOT COMPARE yourself with others and their weight tossing.  Each of our bodies are different and handle changes differently.  Thanks for sharing the verse!  Norma Jean

Good for you for working hard. Just keep at it. One pound is better than none. Good job.

Thanks ladies. I do feel better. Just had a minor tantrum...hehehehe...

Also, be patient..it takes time for your body to adjust to this new way of eating and controlling calories.

Your body will also plateau maybe several times depending how much weight your losing.  Do not panic it is just the body adjusting ... so I say keep eating the caloric amount recommended by CC.  It will kick in.

Good job for doing everything right and keep it up you never know you could of lost more and retained water or gained a little muscle from walking. Next week may show better results and besides you are not on a plateau, good news because you are loosing so try and stay positive. Remember you are going in the right direction. God bless.

Thank you for your words of encouragement Bill. I am on the right track....I have a love/hate relationship with my scale. Which is why I try very hard to not let the numbers that I see on that darn thing dictate whether or not I had a successful week. I'm still walking, come rain or shine! I'm a walking fool!!

I think that we all have a love/hate relationship with the scales.  Wink

I too have been focusing on the numbers a little too much this week.  I wanted so much to have 280.0 for the May 1st weigh in that I did not notice that I have lost some inches.  I don't know how much yet.  I will be getting full measurements at 275.0.

Well anyway.....  This morning I got a surprise!!!!

I started my walk today like any other day.  The air felt kinda cool, so I put on my jacket.  Well, after I got to the convenience store to turn around to come back, I started to get HOT.  I pulled my jacket off.  I didn't want to carry the thing back.  It messed with the rhythm of my arm swing.  [hehehe]

Holding the jacket in front of me.  Looking and wondering.  I proceeded to try to tie that thing around my waist.

!!!Surprise!!!!

I was able to tie it.  Not just a single tie.  But a double knot.  I had lost enough around my waist to where the jacket arms can meet.  Not only did they meet, but I could actually tie the sleeves!!!!!

!!! That is just too cool !!!!

So it doesn't matter so much what the scales say.  If you are doing what you are supposed to be doing.

  • Eating balanced meals.
  • Exercising.
  • Staying within your calorie range.

Eventually, those stubborn scales will have to give up the numbers.

Actions will over take the scales and show the rewards of your hard work!!!

I heard that Denna!!
How awesome is that to be able to tie your jacket around your waist!!

Ditto!
