So, I just discovered cottage cheese! But..
..what the heck do I eat it with? I mean, I'm fine eating it on its own right now, but I'd like to mix it up once in a while and get some different flavours in there..
I've always been afraid of trying it, having had some pretty terrifying experiences with rancid chocolate milk that had been sitting in my lunch box for about two months.. (Cottage cheese sort of resembles rotten milk.. gag.) ..And I really shouldn't be eating it because I have a slight intolerance to lactose. However, it actually tastes really good! And is LOADED with protein!
So what do I do with this delicious new food of mine? :D
Mix it with salsa, then dip things in it!
- 1 cup non fat milk
- frozen fruit of choice
- diet sweetner of choice
- 1/4 tsp of vanilla
- 1/3 cup of low fat cottage cheese
pour into 2 glasses
enjoy with a friend!!
I just recently discovered it too. I stayed away from it for many years because of the look, but decided to give it a go because of the protein.
I like it on a piece of wheat toast. I tried it on a graham cracker this morning, and that was TASTY. I usually mix it with fruit (pineapple, cantelope, plumss... whatever I have around).
I would say pineapple and cottage cheese is my favorite combo.
mix it with some pumpkin puree and a little cinnamon sugar or cinnamon/splenda.---mix it up and it's like PUMPKIN PIE FILLING! ;) ha ha
eat it with cantaloupe :) *deelish
I eat it with almost ANY fruit----pears, strawberries, blue-berries, raspberries, pineapple, BANANA!
mix a little p.b. in with it and use it as a dip with an apple!
I LOVE cottage cheese!
I love the brand called FRIENDSHIP cottage cheese...2% pot-style large-curd *mmmmmm heaven :)
Mmm.. I just chopped up some vegetables and topped a plate full with cottage cheese. That tastes pretty good. Add some spices and yumm. <3
Thank you guys! Fortunately I also have a LOT of fruit around, so I can basically make a fruit+cottage cheese anything.. hehe. Pertaining to what kaffwynn said, I think I might mix it with some pineapple and put it on toast tomorrow! o: It's time to experiment.
Spaghettios and cottage cheese are great together! Don't mix the two entirely. Just take a small bit of cottage cheese onto your spoon and then fill the rest of the spoonful up with spaghettios, it's delicious!!!!
I know it's not the healthiest, but it's sooooo good! Y'all have to try it out!
There is a website for cottage cheese and how to eat it. It is called the cottage cheese page. The website is- stumptous.com
You can also use it as a veggie dip. I used to dip carrots in it all the time!
c_jamie, that's pretty much what I did earlier, except I dumped it on top of my chopped veggies and used a fork... :) hahhaa.. boy was it good though.
ildako, that site doesn't work. Did you spell it correctly? I'll google it now anyway..
Ah, just a missing 'u'. :) "Stumptuous.com." Thanks for that!
And, jperonto.. ehhh Spaghetti o's.. I don't think I've had those in at least 5 years. Lmao. But I'm sure they're not that great, nutritionally, so I'm just not going to bother. Maybe it'd be better just to mix cottage cheese in with some spaghetti sauce? Or something else... Now I'm getting creative... :P
I usually mix it with some fruit (Pinapple it my fav)or veggie (peppers or celery mostly...I even shredded some carrots into it). Cottage cheese is really good and easy to put your own twist to it. I usually like something crunchy like a cracker or toast on the side. I've also been known to eat it all by itself.
It's really good on baked potatoes - especially if you get an italian herbs or chive flavoured cottage cheese.
I'm also not a big fan of mixing it with sweet stuff. It seems weird to me!
Try a generous dose of black pepper! Delish!
Blend it smooth with salsa and use it as a spread or dip.
Blend it smooth with strawberries and splenda (or equal, stevia, whatever sweetener you want obviously) and put it on top of crepes
Peaches!!!!
Yummmmmmmmmm
~H~
For savoury, I like it on a baked potato with a bit of hummus mixed in.
Tomatoes diced and cottage cheese. My mom always added French dressing to hers - but that made it too sweet for me.
A friend of mine adds onions and tomatoes.
And then - Pears halves are fantastic with cottage cheese.
I may have to try the cinnamon. :-)
Good luck.
im eager to try it but i dont hear good things about it
can you compare or contrast it with something else??
