Foods that I used to HATE have now become some of the foods I crave the most!

I used to absolutely hate onions and peppers, now I eat them all the time!  Same with fish!  I have actually been craving sushi for a couple days now...it's crazy.  I think I convinced myself that those foods were good since they are so healthy.

What foods have you started to like, or even dislike, since changing your eating habits?  Anyone else make 180s with their views on some foods?

ever since I started eating healthier I suppose, I've added a LOT of foods to my repetoire. Among those: bell pepper [used to LOATHE them], spinach, celery, green tea, carrots.. I never really used to eat vegetables honestly, besides the occasional cucumber, so I guess.. veggies :D

wow I totally know what you mean its so weird! some of mine are pears, bananas, onions, peanut butter, oranges, cheese, I USED TO HATE CHEESE... soo strange
While I can't say that I love it, I do enjoy salad now, when two years ago salad made me gag.
Mushrooms, I live for them now, despised them before.
I too have become much more of a salad person than I used to be.  Something about the crisp, fresh veggies tastes awesome to me--even with little or no dressing (though dressing is always a plus.)
Mustard, I wouldnt even touch the stuff before and granted a bit of it does dampen my appetite I also like the taste now too.
i used to not eat bananas, but now i have one almost everyday! And oatmeal, i used to never eat it, but now i do!
Oh man! I remember when I was a little girl the only foods I would eat were butter, pasta, bread, cheese and some ice cream...I would NEVER touch, fish or chicken (unless it was nuggets) and I would certainly never eat ANY vegetables...except for french fries but we never really had them around and I never went to McDonalds so ya, those were never in my life. I will always remember this one time I went to this restaurant in france and I specially ordered pasta with cheese and butter and they put some parsley on top and I wouldnt eat it because there was something green on it!! How funny is that! Oh man I used to love eating hotdog & hamburger buns with ketchup on them! ohh yum! HA! And Parmesian Cheese Rinds! Hm, what else did I used to eat....Peanut butter on a spoon, but that is not so weird...Now though I do not eat ANY OF THOSE THINGS! I only eat the things I used to never eat, such as vegetables and lean meats!!! :) I am so much healthier now and my body can feel it!
i used to dread oatmeal. Like I would gag at the even mention of it. But now I eat it for breafast almost every other day. It's so strange. And when it's cold, forget about it I might even have it twice in one day.
I used to think that oatmeal and yogurt were so disgusting.  Now I eat them both every single day and LOVE them.

There are still a lot of vegetables I don't like and wish that I did.
I am so glad to know I'm not the only one!!  Was starting to feel like I had lost my mind.  All my life, 30 some years, I have hated broccoli!  Oh, and pretty much any veggie cooked.  Of course, my mother always cooked them to much, so that would explain a lot.  However, since we decided to eat more healthy, my fridge is full of veggies, including a lot of broccoli.  Very yummy in stirfry with a little seasoning.  I feel like that change to healthy eating is one of the best things that could have happened to me.
Suddenly, I like everything, actually... well, everything as long as it's not fried and doesn't contain mayonnaise.

I feel like I've had a culinary awakening that came along now that I'm thinking about what I'm eating so much more. I've developed a newfound deep appreciation for good food (which can be dangerous, because I'm often tempted to sample everything and eat too much :S).

But... I eat a lot more tofu and love it, and have come to greatly appreciate egg whites and plain yogurt. I also consume a lot more veggies, of course--but the only one I've really changed my mind on is spinach. Mmmm.

I've also really started to love almonds. They were just eh before--I was more of a cashew person. But almonds are healthier, and now I really like them! I even bought almond butter a while ago, and I prefer it to peanut butter. :]

i used to not eat (nor like):

  • pineapples
  • oranges
  • grapes
  • spinach
  • pak choi (chinese cabbage)
  • 100 % natural fruit smoothies/juices
  • yogurt
  • PLAIN oatmeal WITHOUT milk nor sugar (i now throw in fruits or nuts)

basically, veggies and fruits.

NOW? i practically live on these things.when i was younger all i ever ate were franks, hotdogs, sausages, PAN-FRIED chicken, beef or pork stew/grills/bbq, cheese, CHOCOLATES, candies.. junk food and FAST FOOD.

well, you get the picture. changing was like hell difficult at first (of course) and now it's like i can't eat food any other way but the healthy way. most of my meat have gone away. i only eat fish and about once a week, skinless chicken. i do let myself with pork, beef, pizza, cakes or chocolates when special [family] occasions call for them. but never everyday. it's funny, a month ago i was like feeding on the burger patties at McDonalds. now just the smell or the sight of those makes me feel all creepy and disgusted. i tell myself, "how on earth did i eat those before?"

it's weird. ^-^

PB!!!

Never tried it until about a few montha ago. Now it is SUCH a craving!!!

ALL THE TIME!!!

I used to refuse any lettuce other than "the white, crunchy kind" ie iceburg, the one with the fewest amount of nutrients.

I wasn't interested in eating lettuce that had similar look and feel as the leaves on trees, etc...

And now, I would kill for a salad with baby spinach leaves and dark purple lettuce, Last night, I added broccoli cole slaw mix to my salad for added crunch and it was so tasty... mmmmmm...

Also, my new love is balsamic vinaigerrete dressing. I used to only eat creamy dressings, such as ranch but I am finding that flavor comes in many different forms.

If you had told me that I'd ever eat hummus or pita bread, I would have laughed in your face. In fact, most of my friends are confused as it is!

I used to gag with oatmeal and now i love it. same with cottage cheese. And I used to hate onions with a PASSION, haha. And now i don't mind them at all.
:)
I used to hate cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers and onions. I now really like cucumbers. Tomatoes, peppers and onions I like only if they are cooked, but at least I like them now. I wouldnt' even eat spaghetti because the sauce had tomatoes. Now I love red sauce. Still don't like 'em raw, maybe someday...
Used to hate:

Tuna

broccoli

cabbage

brussel sprouts

spaghetti

Now I love all of them! I think our tastes just keep changing over time stuff as a child tasted so much different as an adult. Im glad I liked spaghetti now I just wish I liked it a little less=)

I used to hate pretty much all vegetables with all my heart. Now I hog the vegetable dishes during dinner.

I also hated rice and steamed buns ('cause I've been having them almost every single day of my life since I was born) but now I savour every single bite.

It's kind of strange, but I guess when you suddenly drop your calorie intake, your body decides that any food you can get your hands on is good food.

i used to hate peanut butter, veggies, onions, fish, rice, oatmeal, wholewheat bread, skim milk, plain fiber cereals, and now i like them all!
