I used to absolutely hate onions and peppers, now I eat them all the time! Same with fish! I have actually been craving sushi for a couple days now...it's crazy. I think I convinced myself that those foods were good since they are so healthy.
What foods have you started to like, or even dislike, since changing your eating habits? Anyone else make 180s with their views on some foods?
There are still a lot of vegetables I don't like and wish that I did.
I feel like I've had a culinary awakening that came along now that I'm thinking about what I'm eating so much more. I've developed a newfound deep appreciation for good food (which can be dangerous, because I'm often tempted to sample everything and eat too much :S).
But... I eat a lot more tofu and love it, and have come to greatly appreciate egg whites and plain yogurt. I also consume a lot more veggies, of course--but the only one I've really changed my mind on is spinach. Mmmm.
I've also really started to love almonds. They were just eh before--I was more of a cashew person. But almonds are healthier, and now I really like them! I even bought almond butter a while ago, and I prefer it to peanut butter. :]
i used to not eat (nor like):
- pineapples
- oranges
- grapes
- spinach
- pak choi (chinese cabbage)
- 100 % natural fruit smoothies/juices
- yogurt
- PLAIN oatmeal WITHOUT milk nor sugar (i now throw in fruits or nuts)
basically, veggies and fruits.
NOW? i practically live on these things.when i was younger all i ever ate were franks, hotdogs, sausages, PAN-FRIED chicken, beef or pork stew/grills/bbq, cheese, CHOCOLATES, candies.. junk food and FAST FOOD.
well, you get the picture. changing was like hell difficult at first (of course) and now it's like i can't eat food any other way but the healthy way. most of my meat have gone away. i only eat fish and about once a week, skinless chicken. i do let myself with pork, beef, pizza, cakes or chocolates when special [family] occasions call for them. but never everyday. it's funny, a month ago i was like feeding on the burger patties at McDonalds. now just the smell or the sight of those makes me feel all creepy and disgusted. i tell myself, "how on earth did i eat those before?"
it's weird. ^-^
Never tried it until about a few montha ago. Now it is SUCH a craving!!!
ALL THE TIME!!!
I used to refuse any lettuce other than "the white, crunchy kind" ie iceburg, the one with the fewest amount of nutrients.
I wasn't interested in eating lettuce that had similar look and feel as the leaves on trees, etc...
And now, I would kill for a salad with baby spinach leaves and dark purple lettuce, Last night, I added broccoli cole slaw mix to my salad for added crunch and it was so tasty... mmmmmm...
Also, my new love is balsamic vinaigerrete dressing. I used to only eat creamy dressings, such as ranch but I am finding that flavor comes in many different forms.
If you had told me that I'd ever eat hummus or pita bread, I would have laughed in your face. In fact, most of my friends are confused as it is!
:)
Tuna
broccoli
cabbage
brussel sprouts
spaghetti
Now I love all of them! I think our tastes just keep changing over time stuff as a child tasted so much different as an adult. Im glad I liked spaghetti now I just wish I liked it a little less=)
I used to hate pretty much all vegetables with all my heart. Now I hog the vegetable dishes during dinner.
I also hated rice and steamed buns ('cause I've been having them almost every single day of my life since I was born) but now I savour every single bite.
It's kind of strange, but I guess when you suddenly drop your calorie intake, your body decides that any food you can get your hands on is good food.
