Hee hee... I'm so excited - we just booked our tickets!

Ever since I was a little kid, I've wanted to go to Disneyworld. I'm 33 and now I'm finally going and taking my kids.

We've been to Disneyland 4 times already.  New Orleans Square is my favorite part of the park and we're staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter Resort.

I have so much to do now.  Itineraries!  Character dining reservations! Oh my!

Hubby says we're doing this for the kids, but I think I am the one who's most excited - LOL

*spins cartwheels*

Plus - we're going in August (we got the late summer / aka "Hurricaine season" discount), perfect motivational timing:  Fit-and-swimsuit-ready for the waterslide park!

awesome!! we are think about going next summer hopefully!
You'll love it!!  My folks like just outside Orlando so it's easy for us.
Been there 5 times and I could go again and again and again.....Great choice!
How exciting!  I've never been either, I'm sure you and your family will have a great time!  Have fun making plans.
i LOVE disney world...  we went for the 4th time last summer and that was the first time i'd ever purchased a 'guide book' at a bookstore prior to going...  bought the Frommers' one... there's so many of them out there... but it was really helpful even though we'd been there so many times before...  thought i'd pass that tip on to you... plus it gives ideas on which restaurants are really good, which ones are really pricey, where the bathrooms are, which rides are less full at different times of the day....  plus staying on disney property is going to be so much better for you too...  cuz then you get early admission to a different park each day...  enjoy!!!! now i wanna go back....  wonder if i can convince jim...........
Thanks for the good wishes and advice.

I went right from here to Overstock and bought the Unofficial Guide to WDW 2006 and Hidden Mickeys in WDW (a guide to "secret" Mickey-shapes hidden throughout the park - I think my boys will love scouting for them).

My sister has gone before, plus she is on all sorts of Disney insider boards, too, so I've got to get her advice, too.

Any tips or pointers appreciated!

We're expecting heat, humidity and some rain  (the ponchos might come in handy for soccer season next Fall).
I live here in Orlando, so we live at Disney. Are you going to all the parks?
Totally rain.  I've been to WDW twice now, for about a week each time, and even though it was years ago, what impressed me the most was that it rained from almopst exactly 2pm to 3pm every day.  Really hard rain, too, no fooling-around Pacific NW drizzle.  And then BAM! sun and humidity.  I wanna go again!

LOL - I completely understand the "fooling-around Pacific NW drizzle" thing... lived up here in the upper-left side all my life!  For all the rain we get, it's pretty shocking when we have a real downpour!

Anyone know how far the drive is between WDW and Tampa?  The airfare is higher than I bugeted for and I'm looking to cut costs...
Tamp to Disney driving time is about 45min. I-4 east.
Oh, that's not a bad drive.  We wouldn't get to take advantage of Disney's Magical Express, but even after a car rental, we'd still save $100.  And we'd have a car so we could shop off-site and load up on water bottles and snacks.

Thanks, Moonskye.  We're going for 6 nights and I hear it's so big, we'll barely have time to do Disney in that time.  So that's all we're planning.
