Disorientation after running
So, the other day I logged in a good hour or so on the treadmill at the gym, ranging from high-incline and 4.0 speed, to 5.5 speed and relatively low incline. Afterwards though, I found it hard to walk a stright line, or get in and out of the machines to do the REST of my workout.
Does this happen to anyone else after a good run?
or you may be dehydrated
I was going to say dehydrated or not having eaten enough.
Also, the disorientation can come from low blood sugar. You will go through a lot of your glucose when on a treadmill for that long. Especially if you haven't eaten enough. Cutting calories and very long workouts can produce fatigue and dizziness.
I get the same thing from treadmill...but not running outside. I agree with sublimelmf...I thing it's mostly a treadmill-stationary thing.
If it's not going away in a few minutes, you may be dehydrated or running on empty, make sure you have a snack 30 mins to an hour before running. An hour is a long run!
It may be worth considering tapering off the cardio until you've upped your calories some more. The dizziness/disorientation may be related to the lack of fuel you're giving your body. Be careful. Work on getting more fuel. When you've got that down, reconsider cardio. Good luck!
I've definitely felt a little disoriented after a run--but it usually goes away after a few minutes. I don't usually run on the treadmill more than 30-40 minutes, though. Your body just has to adjust to not being on the treadmill anymore.
I figure it was the "treadmill" explanation. I've been running outside or indoor track for months, with no such experiences. Then last night I decided to use treadmill (so I could see the RNC speaches on the connected TV) and I experienced the same thing as the OP.
