Doctor Office Scales

Quote  |  Reply

Can someone tell me, is there a difference in doctors office scales and home scales.  Man, I went to the doctor today after getting on the scale at home and gained 5 lbs between the doctors office and home, then when I got back home, I lost 5 lbs again.

I brought a new scale when this I started this journey, but this is the second time, I gained 5 lbs and lost 5 lbs from the doctors office and home....hmmm

something just doesn't seem right...

I know it can be frustrating - I don't know about you but it depends sometimes if you are wearing the same clothing, the position where the scale is located, all kings of little factors - digital verses the other kinds out there.  Just let the doctor know when you weigh there is a definite 5 pound difference and whose scale should you rely on.  Hang in there Mark!

There's almost a 10 lb difference in my home and doctor's scales.  But mine is a digital and I can't adjust it, like you could the older kinds.  So, I just go by mine - I like the number better anyway - and I don't go to the doctor often enough to go by his.  But until I figured it out it was frustrating thinking I weigh one thing and had lost weight and get there and think - what happened?   so, at least you know now and can adjust accordingly! Either way - it should show the same amount lost from one time to the other.

Yes, I like mine better too, I numbers are more friendlyLaughing.  I am going by that one as well.  I only go to the doctor now once every two months, so I will look at the doctors scale and in my mind I will humor thiers.

Old fashioned doctor's scales, where they actually move the weight down, have to be callibrated. So there could be a margin of error. Besides that, all scales weigh a little differently. That's why it's good to be consistent with using the same scale every time you weigh.
