my doctor threatened to call the cops on me if i didn't go in for treatment...need some advice please! :/

i was looking for some help on people who are recovery from an ED.

i don't think i am too bad. if anything i know it is the mental aspect of an ED that i need to work on. i am 5'2.5 and am at 90 pounds. about a month ago i saw my doctor to get a physcial because i was worried about not having my periods and of getting a referral to a nutritionist. she sent me to get bloodwork done. i went today and she went over the results. everything on there was normal.

she weighed me though and i was about 89-90. she also checked my blood pressure and i guess it was pretty low. she started freaking out because before when i had seen her i was about 95 pounds. she wanted me to go to the ER that day and would not let me leave the office until someone picked me up who would take me to some temporary facility and then she wanted me to go to an inpatient facility. i really thought she was overreacting. i know these past days i was not eating as good. i also binged about five days ago and have not been eating that well after. either way she threatened to call the cops to take me there if i did not comply. i think she was just trying to scare me.

anyways so i went to the hospital place and they weighed me again and took my blood pressure and my blood pressure was normal when they took it there (don't know why it was low when my regular doctor took it...maybe because i hadn't eaten then?) also they did more bloodwork to double check and everything was fine.

so i know i need to gain some weight back and i know people will now be trying to shove food down my throat. my question is im just at a loss at what i should be eating/aiming for. also mainly i am concerned about gaining weight too fast and it not distributing too well. im sure if i lost this much weight fairly quickly i can gain weight just as quickly again. my question is, for those of you who are in recovery/trying to gain weight what did you do to minimize the fat distribution? i am worried my stomache is going to bloat up and i will gain weight too rapidly and it will cause me to freak out again and start on another crazy diet or something.

did you guys wait a bit until you started exercising again? i was running a lot but have not run for a good two weeks (except for the day right after my binge, i ran for about 2 hrs). what do you guys think? should i just start doing weights? i dont want to lose any muscle and i certainly dont want to start gaining weight again and my body becoming flabby, etc.

this was today by the way. also does anyone know what to do about hair loss? i noticed my hair has been falling out more than normal. should i be taking multivitamins? goddamnit i dont know why i did this to myself. seriously i should have stopped with this obsessive calorie counting when i was at like 105 and stayed there. :/

I was 30 lbs underweight and in order to gain I was eating a ton of food and doing no exercise because I needed to gain body fat primarily. 30 lbs later the weight has distributed well. I'm not fat, I'm just not emaciated anymore. My hair was falling out and now I see little hairs growing back. So gaining weight and eating more of everything will fix that.

what you realy need to do is go to and ED intreatment. there they will tell you the typs of foods to eat how much and when to gain weight back thru mussle not fat.

the fact that your so far along that your hair is falling out is bad. next could litteraly be mold growing on the body (downy moss) which means the body is dieing and giving up.

you need to recover from your ed. both the physical aspact and psychological . the process takes 7-14 (on avrage most of which is out patiant care) years to recover

its worth it . youll be happyer healthyer they will teach you how to exersise proporly and eat right all so that you only gain till your healthy then mataine.

im worried about you even tho i dont know you. if you dont get more help to recover you will die your body with just give up. please look for an intreatment place for EDs
aw well done for deciding to gain you know its for the best :D

i feel like i can completely relate to your stoy....my GP overreacted and after waiting 8 hours in hospital the doc. there said i was completely healthy (apart from being underweight)

this was nearly 12 months ago though and since that ive gained 14lbs yey! im still not there but im doing it slowly for exactly the same reasons you want to!

your idea on lifting weights is great and i would suggest not running much because its just counterproductive but before starting with weights you need to be eating more....get your intake to 2000+ first! also in order to gain the weight as muscle you need to eat even more when lifting because it takes alot of calories to build muscle

as for weight distribution....i still wear the pants i wore last summer when i was 14lbs lighter!! alot of weight goes to repairing internal organs :)

as for your hair loss i suggest multi mineral tablets rather than vitamins.....hair loss is caused by mineral defficiency!

you should check out the weight gain forum there are so many people there in the same situation good luck xx

I think there is a common mistake in all the replys about the intepretation "totally healthy except being underweight." You are not the people who should be offering suggestions to this person.

As a recovered anorexic, I can tell you a few things. One, you will always feel you are fat/flabby, no matter how thin or fat/flabby you are. You will always be unhappy unless you get the MENTAL health treatment you need. I believe that is what your doctor was talking about--your mental health is threatening your physical health. SHe is trying to be preventative. You are losing too much weight too fast to sustain your heart and the fact that you think that your weight for your height is okay tells me that you are well entrenched in distorted anorexic thinking. This will lead to continued deteriation of your muscles, INCLUDING your heart. Listen to your doctor and get help as soon as possible.

I'm sorry but I don't really agree with this. When i was ana, i lost a lott of hair, and didn't stop losing it until i ate right and gained a lot of weight back. You lose hair because your body goes into shock finally from lack of food. I had been taking a multi-vitamin and mineral and still lost a lot more hair until I gained weight back.

Have you ever thought about the tube?  Like an NG tube that goes in your nose down to your stomach and gets you the calories you need a helps you gain wt the right way and not to fast...it's an option and you can do it from your home and don't have to be in the hospital the whole time unless your treatment team is requiring it
