Doesn't it suck that skinnyness comes to some people naturally?
Like the people that eat and eat but are dead skinny. I have friends like that. If it wasn't for their metabolism they'd be in big trouble. Hah. (:
One of my college friends is like that.
Every day he'd grab two grilled cheese sandwiches, a muffin and a regular Coke from the campus coffee shop (Or a few slices of a large pizza xD)... and somehow managed to maintain his gaunt, scarecrow-esque looking figure.
At least we're making the smart choices ![]()
Actually, people that are very slim don't normally have freakishly high metabolisms, they just don't eat as much as other people or they're very, very active. You see them eating sandwiches, coke and chocolate muffins but, when you're not there, they're picking at nothing. That's how my friend is. Massive cake-lover but, when we shared a house, I noticed she ate next to nothing the rest of the time.
Just stick around 20 years.... The people that eat a terrible diet but stay very slim quite often balloon once out of their active teenage years and they get the car, the desk job, the children....
My husband is like that. The more he eats the more it seems like he looses. I wish I could be like that! He is 6ft 115 lbs and can't gain a pound. He has to sit all day at the computer and doesn't exercise regularly. He eats tons of sweets which is the funny thing. His doc said he just has a really fast metabolism.
i don't know how old you are but when i was about 13-15 i used to envy all my friends who were all petite and skinny and could eat constantly without putting on any weight.
now we're all around 18 years old and most of those girls have filled out a lot. it's turned around that i'm slimmer than quite a few of them now, because i had to learn how to eat healthily when we were younger whereas they just grew up eating whatever whenever.
Certainly does, but I don't think it comes naturally to the majority of those people, My friends all used to be average sized, but now some of them have gotten bigger, and I haven't, I used to be like I eat what I like, which I do, but I don't think its got anything to do my metabolism, I think its just because the things I want to eat don't have that many calories in, so I appear to eat more probs because I am in quantity, but not in calories, If that makes sense. Like I could eat 6 yogurts and thats the equivelent to a iced doughnut.
I'd love a really good metabolism though, it would solve things.
I AM ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE AND WHILE EVERYONE THINKS ITS GREAT, I DON'T SEE IT THAT WAY. I WOULD FEEL THE SAME IF I WAS OVER WEIGHT, BUT I HAVE TAKEN SOME CONTROL AND STARTED EATING MORE AND WORKING OUT. I'VE GAINED 20LBS IN 3YRS(MOSTLY MUSCLE) AND WITH THIS WEB SITE I HOPE TO GAIN A WHOLE LOT MORE WITH A BETTER HIGH CALORIE CLEAN DIET AND HARDER WORKOUTS. SO WHILE SOME PEOPLE ARE FINE WITH BEING SKINNY, THERE ARE ALSO THE ONES WHO HATE IT JUST AS MUCH AS THE PEOPLE WHO ARE OVER WEIGHT.
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE
PS SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS, MY WORK MAKES ME TYPE IN THEM
GI Jane is right, now that I'm in college and often eating 3 meals a day with the same people, if one of my friends eats too much for lunch she'll be so full that she'll forget to eat again until 8 or 9 pm at which point she'll have something really little.
What I do think is "unfair" or "sucks" is that some people started out thin. Like me, I was overweight in 1st grade due to genetics, parent's poor diet, and I guess a relatively inactive childhood. So even as I learned to eat until I was full and stop when I was hungry, I was still maintaining at being overweight. It wasn't until I was 15 or 16 and started thinking about my choices that I started to lose weight and I think I'll struggle with it my entire life.
Naturally thin people don't have super high metabolisms or anything special. I'd say most of them eat about 2000 calories a day and have participated in sports or some kind of physical activity.
To me the difference between "naturally thin" and others is your starting point.
Hey, in most cases those people who seem to eat a lot and don't gain weight are actually eating next to nothing, BUT, my boyfriend is a freak of nature. He is 6ft weighs in at about 128lbs...SOOO SKINNY, AND he eats like a machine. For breakfast at least once a week he will get mcdonalds, and at least twice a week he goes out for a big breakfast. He eats out for lunch on days he doesn't go out for breakfast. He alwasy drinks juice, he always gets a chocolate bar AND a bag of chips for a snack AND then he goes home and eats whatever sort of dinner the rest of his fam is eating minus the veggies. He hates most veggies, will only eat fruit if its put in front of him and eats at least 3000 calories a day. Also, he's not lazy but he's not very active unless he's at work which requires a lot of walking. STILL,
One time a work buddy of his was trying to lose 30 pounds so they made a bet. Work buddy would try to lose 30lbs, BF would try to gain 5lbs. Well my BF ate so much disgusting food until the point where he felt sick, and he LOST 2lbs. He is seriously a freak of nature! I always tell ppl that he can eat a hamburger and lose 2lbs and I will eat one carrot and gain 2lbs!

Yep! That's how my sister is. She DOES next to nothing [no exercise whatsoever besides walking when she goes to walgreens and stuff like that] and eats. and eats. and EATS! and stays teeny! :p it's been this way since we were younger. and, I live with her, so I know she eats lots.. I even counted her calories for a few days [with her consent] a while ago and she definitely eats more than this site suggests for someone of her size [she's liiike, 5'4" and 95-ish pounds]!
I used to think that, until i realized all my friends who are "naturally thin" barely eat anything! Sure they eat popcorn, pizza, and candy but they dont eat alot of it, and then they barely eat anything else! One of my friends who doesnt even know what calories is or anything and is thin barely eats anything. She doesnt have time for breakfast, just gets a bag of chips at lunch (100 calories), and then eats grilled cheese when she gets home (600 calories), and has a frozen dinner (400 calories), and then thats all she eats! Ive counted her calories before and she only eats like 1200-1400 a day. If she does by lunch at school which is like burritos/turkey/hamburgers she only eats like half of it and throws the rest away. And when i was on a vacation with my one friend sure she had a few pancakes for breakfast and milk (500 calories), but she "wasnt hungry" for lunch and then we went to a movie and she ate a whole pack of candy (400 calories), and then she wasnt hungry until later and just ate a hotdog (300 calories). And neither of these people ever had an ED or any problems with food or weight, thats just how they eat.
My point is all the people i know that are "naturally skinny" just dont think about food, and dont eat alot at all, or they do indulge and eat what they want but they dont really WANT that much. But there not eating as much as you think all the time.
Guys are a different story they can just eat, eat, eat, and eat and never gain!
Just wait 10 years, when all that terrible eating catches up to them.
You're much better off eating healthy foods your entire life than gorging on junk food, even if you are "skinny."
I know my skinny friends will probably become overweight someday ; but right now they are so lucky! :D
My two friends eat like this for lunch-
Friend 1#: M&M Cookies, Chocolate bar, Pita Chips, Fruit Punch, and a PB+Jelly sandwich on w bread
Friend 2#: PB+Jelly sandwich on w bread, Dorito chips or Baked Cheetos, Chocolate Cupcake, 2 Strawberry Poptarts, 4 Chocolate Chip Cookies

...or a Tape Worm.
That's kind of scary, really. That sounds like diabetes to me. That's how my uncle and brother are, how my granddad was, as well as my great aunt and her husband. They all have rampant type II diabetes. I'd get his blood sugar tested a few times.

Dx No fair.
Yeah one of my friends eats like everything you give her and she's a stick. -.-
my boyfriend is exactly that.we go out to taco bell and he gets four burritos and eats half way there while i'm enjoying my little crunchwrap haha.
in the end he stays skinny and i gain an extra pound :c
I just thought i'd add this...
My one friend who doesnt count calories or anything, but is very skinny doesnt eat alot at all! it bothers me ugh. like today i asked her what she ate and she said just a packet of oatmeal this morning, then she went to the mall but her mom wouldnt buy her anything for lunch, so its already 5:30 and she said she probably wont get home until like 10, and she will probably only eat like a grilled cheese or somthing, THAT IS NOT ENOUGH DAYYUM CALORIES! But thats just how she eats, i think ALL "naturally thin" people dont eat alot. they may eat alot around you but they eat next to nothing when there not.
sorry for my little rant, its just making me want to restrict today because she barely ate anything and i feel fat :/.
but there still are naturally skinny people out there. Example, my last roommate in colllege. Heres a list of her daily menu:
-cheese-its or goldfish
-mt dew, at least 4 bottles
-ferro rocet (those hazlenut chocolate things), at least 6
-nutella by the jar
-grilled cheese sammies
-homemade fetticini alfredo
-Campbells chicken noodle soup
Yall get the point
Seriously, the girl does no work outs and has abs...so uncool...
But her parents are big, so shes fully aware she'll have to eat right in 10 years....prolly less actually....

Aww, yeah. Lots of guys can stay skinnier than girls. In the streets I always see like a million skinny guys but lots of average weighted girls.
Why am I gaining weight after a gastric bypass?
After a gastric bypass, absorption becomes more efficient over time. And so, unless you have dumping syndrome, assume that absorption is not a problem... Read more
