would doing this still maintain your weight?

when your maintaining your weight and you go over your maintence calories for some days in the week like maybe 2 or 3 days out of the 7 and sometimes even double your maintainence calories on those days and then the next day you eat the number of calories you would have to lose weight or less than those calories for a few days after that or just the 1 day after, would you still be able to keep the same weight without gaining this way ??

oh and i forgot to ask-does it matter what you eat(bad or healthy food) as long as you stay within your calories for the day?

What you're describing is essentially yo-yo dieting.

If you eat double your maintenance calories half the time, it won't be long until you start doing that the other half of the time.

It's better and more sustainable to be somewhat consistent.

It's better not to do this, but I mean it would most likely work. Yo-yoing your diet could potentially lead to heart disease I heard on a radio show once. It also screws around with your blood pressure and makes you more susceptible to gaining the weight back by falling off track. Don't quote me on the heart disease tidbit.

Here is an article from Mayo Clinic outlining how to safely maintain your weight throughout the week. Maybe this will give you a better idea on the health approach to maintaining your current weight.

And just like with losing weight, the amount of calories you are intaking does not have to be healthy calories. HOWEVER, you will find yourself with mal-nutrition eating foods that lack nutrition.  It's best to get your calories from whole grains, lean meats, good fats, fruits, and veggies.

I agree that it is better to eat the same amount of calories regularly; but what if I do this thing of compensating calories once in a while. I will still doing the yo-yo thing?. Let's say I went to a party or for Thanksgiving dinner (that everybody eats more) and I went much more over the calories I should have taken.

Is it ok to eat less calories for the next couple of days to compensate all the food I ate that day? how much less than may daily calories intake? or I should eat anyway all the calories I need everyday, no matter if I ate a lot yesterday.

Also, if I know I will be going to a party and I will be eating more than my regular amount of calories I should (and this is going to happen for sure). Is it ok to eat a lot less during the day, let's say the 20% of the calories I should, so I save the 80% of the calories for the dinner. Hope you can help me!!!!

The best bet is to forget about that one day and eat normally the rest of the time.
