Am I doing the right thing?
Ok, this is a stupid question.. sort of (haven't done my homework)? I have been eating healthy for 7 weeks tomorrow and exercising 3 times per week for 30 minutes on the Gazelle. Now, want I really want to know is : Should I eat more on the days I work out?
On the days I work out & don't work out I usually eat 1.800-2,200 calories per day. I really don't understand why I should eat more, when I'm trying to lose weight, but I'm sure it has to do with muscle?
ANYHOW! I burn about 500 calories give or take on the days I work out.
So should I be eating 2,200 calories PLUS 500 calories on the exercising days?
P.S. 2,216 is the "calorie intake" recommendation on this website. But is this a normal ammount, or is it a bit too high?
it depends on your height weight and activity lever and age
im 19, 5'10 and when i started 246lbs my intake was abot 2200 a day i am now 235 and my intake is 1900 i dont lower or raise it if i am more active i just eat the same ammount a day i only changed it because i didnt loose for a week and i checked what they suggested on here they said lower so i did and lost a bit more.
all in all normal for you may be high for someone else but dont worry about it just do what will be right for you
IF YOUR LOOKIN TO LOOSE WEIGHT I DONT THINK YOU SHOULD HAVE AN EXTRA 500 CALS ON DAY YOU EXERCISE. HOWEVER YOU COULD USE THE 500 CALS TO HAVE A TREAT LIKE A CHOCOLATE BAR AND WILL STILL OF BURNT SOME CALS:>)
The amount of energy you ned to lose weight depends on your size, age and activity level. The bigger, younger and more active you are, the more calories you need in order to lose weight but stay healthy. You're 310lbs so you need plenty of energy.. As you lose weight your calorie intake will get adjusted downwards.
If the recommendation is 2200 then keep to a range of 2100-2300 rather than dropping to 1800. You're losing weight steadily so far so it is the right level.... well done on the 20lbs already gone! Half an hour, three times a week is relatively gentle exercise and you should be able to feel quite satisfied on your existing calorie allowance if you're clever with your food choices.. If you were to one day go running for two hours.... something way beyond your normal activity.... then you could justify an extra snack or two.
Another good thing to do, if you're not sure how much to eat or whether you're eating enough when you work out, is to set your burn meter and sedentary, then log your activities to get a true sense of how much you are burning. Then, make sure you're eating 500-1000 (max) Kcal less than that. It may be that this amount is exactly the target CC set for you. Congrats on the great work so far!!!!
