was doing so well when....

Up until yesterday, I was doing so well...starting my "diet" over 10 days ago and sticking religiously to my 1500/per day.  I even have an excel sheet to track it all !

Then, yesterday at the mall with my husband - we both couldn't resist the temptation for McDonald's!!!

We each had a burger then shared an order of fries...When we got home, the snacking continued...but it wasn't anything too devastating.

I feel terribly guilty and as if every effort I put forth was for nothing.  I have that nasty bloated feeling now (you know - the one where you pig out at night and wake up with that "ugh" feeling?....) and I'm seriously doubting that I have the courage to realize that TODAY IS A NEW DAY.

I have already lost 6 pounds so far, and now I'm petrified to get back on the scale.

I have 50 pounds to lose - and when something like this happens, my goal feels sooo unnattainable. :(

In tears...

Hi Mary:) It is a new day!! Just drink a lot of water today. That will help flush the sodium, and get rid of that yucky bloated feeling. Don't get on the scale today, wait a day or two. And make sure to eat today! Choose foods that are healthy, and try to stay away from anything with a lot of sodium. I don't think you did any damage.:)
youll be alright!! a burger and fries wont kill you!  as long as you really enjoyed it that is!

every sat. night we always go out for dinner and I have pretty much whatever I want (last week...pineapple curry and rice at my fav thai place..yum!)....thats everyweek...and im losing my 1-2 pounds a week like I should...

:)
Thanks guys.  Your words of encouragement are helping me so far.  You're right christinak74 - I have to eat today because I've noticed when I try to really restrict my calories the next day after going over my calories, I end up bingeing at the end of the day because Im starved!!

I'm planning on drinking a lot of water and eating tons of fruits and veggies.

skybudge - so you say you eat whatever you want for dinner one day a week and still lose?

Thanks for the support !!

Some may think of it as fooling myself. But when I slip up (and thats been a lot in the last month) I stay off the scale for a day or two. You know you have slipped up so climb back on the wagon, give yourself a couple days and then step on the scales. sky is right though, a burger and fries isnt going to do any harm. Yummy food isnt always healthy food but it is one of the pleasures in life. We shouldnt deny ourselves those pleasures we just need to learn how to moderate and control them. Youre doing great, keep it up.
Oh man!  If everyone who slipped up never went back, this web site would have tumbleweeds flowing across the screen!

No worries.  A one day slip only reminds you how you feel when you eat like that.  Remember that feeling the next time your tempted. (And sometimes you may still feel like it's worth it!  I know I do!)  A slip up every now and again won't sabatage your weight loss.  I slipped up throughout most of December (holidays).  Just make sure to make the commitment strong enough so if you eat more than you want, you don't beat yourself up... that just leads to binging.

6 pounds!  Wow.  You're doing great.
It helps me to not concentrate on how much I need to lose, but how much I have lost and how I can keep going.  Today IS a new day.
