What have you done lately that felt great?

I live in San Francisco. There are homeless people everywhere. I literally cannot walk a block away from my work without stepping around/over/away from at least 2 homeless people.

I just finished half of a delicious honey-wheat-crust-with-japanese-eggplant-mush rooms-onions-br occoli-garlic-spinach-sundried tomatoes-and-chicken pizza from California Pizza Kitchen. They boxed the other half, and I thought, hey, maybe it'll be dinner, or I'll give it to my boyfriend.

I wandered up the street to Walgreens, and on the way in, saw a homeless guy sitting there panhandling for change.

I gave him my pizza. He lit up like a 60-watt bulb and grinned at me before saying thank you. On the way back out he waved and smiled at me again, the pizza box tucked safely behind his worn duffel bag on the floor, like he was protecting it, or saving it for later when he could really enjoy it.

Now not only does this relieve me from the temptation of more pizza-awesomeness....but I also did something nice.

I feel good, and it's not just because the pizza is settling well in my stomach now.

What have you done lately for yourself or someone else that felt really great? I love hearing heart warming stories :)

I took a hammer to an old printer that finally died... that's probably not what you meant, but it did feel really good.

More in line with your topic - I also signed up to make a monthly donation to ASPCA.  Those Sarah Maclaughlin commercials finally got to me so I gave in and did it.  Felt pretty good...

I pretty sure at some point I'll give in to those Noah Wiley polar bear ads as well.

I'm also a monthly giver to ASPCA. I was also a giver to the WWF... but it was getting to be too much so I cancelled them. :( I'll have to eventually cancel ASPCA too if crap keeps getting... crappy. :/

I've also donated to PETA.

I get sooo much junk mail from all 3 organizations. >_<;

Today, I walked into the kitchen, and saw the yummiest looking coffee cake from La Boulangerie, and I didn't even think about having any.  Just a "Hmm, wonder who brought that in".

That felt pretty good.

Haven't done much on a "kindhearted level" lately.  I should try to make a point to do something nice for someone.  I guess with year end, I've been 100% focusing on myself and just trying to keep sane.

P.S.  Why ARE there so many homeless people in SF?  Is it this bad in every other city?  I mean, you know it's bad when you know all the "regulars" and where they set up shop every day.  Breaks my heart.

pooped.

Wore my skull and crossbone scrubs into the psychiatric unit with a pocket full of needles and blood all over my gloves.

The look on the patient's face and hell, the look on the nurse's face made me feel awesome.

Decided to support the Bay Area Food Bank.  Seein' as how I like food so much that I have to stop myself from eating too much of it, maybe it was time to share a bit.

training for a marathon/fundraising for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in memory of my aunt...running for a cause makes those long, tough runs worth it!

In every major or capital city I've been in there are tons of homeless people. :(  I feel so bad for them. It's freakin' freezing out and I see some of them all bundled up at night sleeping on a step of some closed business. :(

LMAO.  My answer was going to be along those lines, but I figured it would be a little TMI...

Just ate a big bowl of broccoli with veggie dip. I really wanted it at 11pm. I'm pretty happy right now

took two trash bags full of plastic bottles to the recycling center and a bag of clothes to Goodwill...

I found a great way to do something for myself and something for my community as well. I have been wanting to join Curves and went in the other day to see what the cost was to join. While regularly it would cost almost $200 for starting up and then the monthly fee, for the month of March instead of the $200 start up fee they want us to donate at least $30 of food to the local food bank! So I save myself $170, plus I get to help the foodbank and get a membership at Curves! Great deal over all!

- Going to the gym 4 days a week

- Quit smoking

That's seriously awesome of them! Wow!

I went to my second session with the trainer I hired for my birthday last night. She's awesome, and I leave the gym FEELING great.

Oh, this is about HELPING! I thought...okay.

Yeah, it feels good to help out a homeless person by giving them food or money towards getting food (giving the benefit of the doubt.) And yet, it also feels good to give the finger to those overly aggressive "canvassers" employed by charities like Greenpeace and Children's International to harrass people in the street. I actually saw one of them today physically block a woman's path and when she tried to walk around him he moved in front of her, and when she tried to go the other way he blocked her again. She was a fairly small, thin woman. She finally got around, but I thought this was nothing more than bullying and intimidation, and can't reflect very well on the charities they represent.

i started to give blood a while ago...i've done it 3 times, and am proud to have gotten over my fear of needles....

so now i've taken it a step further and have applied to be a bone marrow donor. i'm just beginning the process and will have to have a bunch of tests before i'm accepted...once i'm on the list, i may never match with someone, but just being on the registry makes me feel pretty good

I lingered in the shower just a little bit longer than normal.

I always give any singles i have on hand to homeless people-I think of it this way: if I was in their predicament, obviously i'd reall appeciate it. not because I'm trying to be virtuous or anything.

anyway-very challeging yoga makes me feel great and is a good contribution to ballet(my main exercise/hobby). And my new yoga studio is huge with beautiful showers. It's worth joing just for the showers.

I don't think lingering 'shower time' ((cough cough)) is the kind of good feeling she's asking about.  ;)

Ha-- my gutter mind went straight there too!

I gave my BF's nasty feet a pedi last night and he gave me a massage.  Goodness all around.
