Don't celebrate christmas, and thanksgiving !! They are capitalist conspiracies to make you fat and ugly !!

Quote  |  Reply

Hello all: Hate the christmas !! Hate thanksgiving, and hate most capitalist holidays.  Thanksgiving and Christmas are a capitalist conspiracy to sell you a lot of food and make you gain 10 lbs. so that you'll be forced to spend on weight-loss supplements in january and to join fitness health cluts.  It is a scam to make you gain weight.  The thing is that most people gain like 10 lbs. from Halloween until the end of the year, because of the excess of binge-eating around this time of the year, and the many holidays which are oriented around lots of sweets like chocolates, pecan pies, cakes, etc.   So i think it's wiser to not take part in the celebrations and keep following your diets.  Let other people in your family indulge in whatever they want to eat, but keep doing your diets without celebrating halloween, thanksgiving and christmas .

Then don't celebrate them.

Quite trying to blame your fatness and uglyness on capitalist conspiracies. You have no one to blame but yourself. No one is forced to gorge themselves at holiday gatherings, people make that choice themselves. Thanksgiving and Christmas DO have a point other than stuffing your face like a disgusting pig, so telling people to just not celebrate them is a little silly.

 agreed.

I hope this thread was started to get a rise out of people... because these holidays are obviously so much more than food. seriously.

I <3 holidays.  On birthdays and Christmas and Thanksgiving, I just want to eat my damn Tofurkey and lots of other things.

I like getting fat on holidays.  It makes me THAT much prouder when I eat right on non-holidays.

A piece of hallowe'en toffee, a few slices of turkey or the occasional glass of sherry never made anyone fat!  No-one's forced to buy family-size tins of this and tubs of that, eat like a horse and camp out in front of the TV for two months solid.  And it would be miserable to opt out... Ebeneezer Scrooge-like,.....  and refuse to participate just in case you had to eat a mince-pie.  ('Bah, no humbugs for me thanks')

Like anything else, it's a personal choice whether to over-indulge or enjoy yourself sensibly.

yay for capitalist conspiracies !

I don't celebrate thanksgiving, but xmas is about giving, so I dunno where food comes into play. Candy canes?

I guess I don't have big meals on xmas either.

Or you could celebrate the holidays and just use portion control.  I did it on Easter...it wasn't that hard.  It's not like anyone is force-feeding you.

But I love Christmas...

*runs into the corner and sobs!*

Just because everyone else is indulging doesn't mean you have to. I treat myself to a couple of naughties on Christmas day (I adore mince pies and fruit cake so maybe 1 slice) or a couple of choccies.

i am not too fond of the holidays either but family face time is a good thing.

i agree with the staying on track bit. so much food! americans are obsessed with food.

capitalist conspiracy? cool! i <3 conspiracy. you may have something there...sponsored by the food indusrtry and the retail industry and the economy. thanks for the warning but i think thats just straight-up capitalism. you know... consume, eat, buy, spend.

I enjoy the warmth of family holidays.  The desserts are tempting but when else do I have a slice of pecan pie during the year?  Never.

Oh, I'm getting hungry and can't wait, stuffing, sweet potatoes with marshmellow, cranberry salad, yum.

hmmm id wather go walkabout. big bend is calling.

You are obviously unaware of the little known conspiracy, in addition to the horror described by the OP, to harvest human livers for an even more succulent and forbidden version of Foie Gras. (Happy little lemmings who go along with the gym membership and/or spend a minimum of $50 at GNC get a pass...)

Soylent Green.

linky

just lift heavier weights more so any of the extra calories goes towards muscle and not only fat. that's what im gonna do after my spain holidays.

mmm, tofurkey, we don't get that here.

and i go to fitness health clubs year round, altho i don't like the extra jan influx, im just selfish with my time & space at the gym.

this.

Lol.

Thanksgiving and Christmas have been around for years and years, and now that we've gotten fat, we're going to blame it for our extra weight.

Damn you grandma's pie! You're always bringing me down with your damn conspiracies!

"Celebrate" doesn't mean "overconsume." You could have a Christmas dance party for all your loved ones or a Thanksgiving crafting get-together.

Can you celebrate holidays without overindulging in the treats that come with them? I mean those holidays all have significance and meaning that goes beyond what you eat.
