I had the same 'free' sample garbage problem. I phoned my cc company and told them that the charge was put on without my permission (as a back up), then I phoned the company and told them I would sue them. Problem solved.
What happens is that they get you with by saying that they are (usually) going to send you the next shipment, or some other product or whatever. But they know full well you are unaware, they also don't have your signature or written permission, so technically, it's illegal. Just make sure they know that you know and that you are willing to take them to court. They'll removed the charge to shut you up.
Hi glttr7,
I did the same thing a couple of months ago, I used my visa! When I saw that they had charged me the 80 bucks I got on the phone and gave them hell. The woman was pretty good with me but I had to send back my free sample, which tasted like " you know what "
They refunded me my money but had to pay for shipping the free sample back. So I ended up being out ten bucks. I missed the fine print where I had signed up to be charged every month for my next monthy supply, before I even received it, actually I had just received my free sample only days before. But anyways be firm and make sure they know you have cancelled. Best of Luck and remember if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
