Like some days I really feel great happy about sticking to the diet, other's I feel like what is the point.Ya to be healthy but what good is that if you dont enjoy the food your eating,I like pasta, pizza, seafood ect and all that is really really limited.I still stay to the diet but not happy bout it lol
I no longer get my periods (thanks to surgery years ago), but I still have cravings. How do I get around them? Make sure I eat as right and healthy as possible, take my vitamins and suppliments, drink plenty of clear fluids and when I get a craving, think of an alternative and the bonus of staying on plan. Keep your goal in front of you always and know that if you eat right all week, you can choose, in advance what your cheat item or meal will be.
If you absolutely MUST give in to the craving and you haven't thougth out in advance what alternatives you can have to the food that is poison to your system, then make sure you write it down and be honest about what you've eaten. Look up what it will take to work it off, and add that work out to your daily exercise plan. If you crave that Meat Lovers personal pan pizza, go ahead and have it, but do you want to add the 470 calories with 27grams of FAT? That will take 130 minutes of walking (Over 2 hours) to burn it off, on top of your regular exercise. On top of already feeling crappy with your period, do you really want to add guilt to your day? Didn't think so.
Get out, take a walk, find the non--food replacement for emotional and hormonal eating. Before you choose to eat anything, think if it's being kind to your body, or are you going to continue to abuse it by reverting to old eating habits during your "period". Remind yourself that YOU are incontrol of what you put in your mouth, not your period.
All my best,
Jewel
When I first started eating healthy I made some changes that really helped me with cravings.
If I wanted to eat something crunchy and was really tempted to take out chips or popcorn, I would eat some frozen grapes. They're also crunchy, cold so you can eat them instead of ice cream if that's what you're craving, and are much more healthy for you.
In terms of pizza, you can buy some whole wheat tortillas and get some marinara sauce, maybe some lean ground beef if you prefer, or even chicken, put on some vegetables, and put it in the oven to heat up. I haven't tried it yet, but it seems like a much healthier alternative. You can also buy some low fat cheese to put on it. I'm not sure how many calories are in it, but it's in a turbo jam nutrition guide which allows you to have two pizzas if you exercise.
Also, if you like pasta, there's this meal that I've tried which is really good and is healthy for you. Just use whole wheat pasta to make it healthier if you prefer, and get some fettuccine, honey garlic sauce, lean chicken, and some frozen vegetables. You just cook them and add them all together, and it tastes really good. I'm not sure how much of each item you put it, but I guess it depends on preference anyways.
Eat what you like...in moderation. Take a bite or two and leave it at that. That way, you're not really going without. But keep in mind that the calories do add up. And even for the food that you like...for instance pizza-add more veggies. Spinach is great on a pizza and so are roma tomatoes...and add a little mrs. dash for flavor.
Usually my problem with dieting is once i feel liek ive "over eaten for the day" i start bining on a bunch of sweet and treats because i figure i already "ruined my day of calories" and find myself saying Whats an extra 100 cals? 200? 300? and on and on. but im trying to maintain healthy. tho most days i find myself only consuming 700-900 calories per day.
tho most days i find myself only consuming 700-900 calories per day. DUH, no wonder you are binging lexigurl. Your body NEEDS more than 700-900 calories a day...every day. Those cravings are your body trying to tell you, HEY FEED ME PLEASE.
I'll be the first to admit I dove in head first into a bag or Doritos and not come up for air until it was empty...including the crumbs. Now that I've been eating healthier and counting my calories for a few months I don't crave junk nearly as much as I used to and I've learned to keep LOTS of healthy alternatives in the house so I can overindulge responsibly.
It is a process and sometimes it doesn't hurt to eat "bad" stuff but as mentioned above do it in moderation. My husband always laughs when I practice the three bite rule with desserts. He can't believe after 20 years of me eating as much as I wanted that I'm throwing away most of the dessert or other foods that I know aren't good to eat a lot of. Three bites do satisfy when eaten/savored slowly.
Hang in there, fill the house with healthy alternatives and you'll get there.
YOU CAN DO IT ![]()

I was told to eat 1400 Cal a day but yet im not hungry, and im not trying to starve myself either, but im only eating 600 Cals a day. I don't have cravings and like i said im not hungry, do you think it's dangerous?
It is extrememly unhealthy to eat so few calories a day. Don't think about the weight gain from consuming a required number of calories. Remember, calories and not necessarily fat, they are fuel and your organs, brain, heart etc need the fuel to function properly. Chosing the right calories is the key. Make sure they are nutritionaly dense and not fat calories.
Eating so few a day you will lose weight for a while but the damage to your system will be a problem down the road. PLUS you will set your metabolism up for a fall time and time again which will be an even bigger problem as you get older.
If your calories are high protein calories then chances are you will not be hungry and have cravings...for a while anyway. You need some carbs too for brain function. If you were told to eat 1400 a day then eat them. Just make sure they are healthy calories and not junk.
We tend to want the weight to come off fast to keep us motivated. There isn't a single publication that will tell you it is healthy or advisable to lose it quickly. The issue is losing the weight in a healthy manner that will not do harm. Your body NEEDS at least 1200 a day just to function so don't try and take short cuts to get the weight off fast. It won't work as studies and people have learned over the years.
If I only ate 600 cals my eyes don't function right I start getting blurred vision and that's due to not having enough sugar. Not to say I should eat a candy bar but carbs and good carbs help my blood sugar stay steady. I try and eat only whole foods though fresh veggies and fruits to keep me full. I made fresh pasta sauce today and it's only like 50 cals per 1/2 cup so I eat it from a bowl never even mind making pasta with it.
I was reading the biggest looser cook book and you can mix fat free ricotta cheese and low fat mozzarella cheese together then bake it and then add the pasta sauce and just eat that you wouldn't believe how good that tastes so you just have to re think what you love and make it more healthy. there are so many sites to look at to find recipes that have low cals. You just have to put the effort in. and Hey while your on the computer just drink flavored water it's tasty and fills you up.
I also try and eat a Hugh salad before I have a dinner then you eat so much less. Good luck honey I've been trying to loose weight for ever but counting cals is the only true way to loose.
