Don't you Freaking hate....
They say scales dont lie right..
You get on a scale today Hey great you lost 3 more pounds for a total of 9 pounds lost woohoo Right! coulden't be happier..
You head over to the mirror and you look at yourself and your wondering where the heck you loose weight at?
you look the same Fat!
This kind of thing is the **** that pisses you off no? You loose it but you dont see it anywhere, Ive lost 9 pounds i'm happy about it But i dont see it, i dont feel it.
Anyone else wanna vent on this?
I did not start noticing my weight loss until about 12-15 pounds...so just think - in 3 more pounds maybe you will notice. It should be motivation to keep going! I know I'm not venting - but try to look on the bright side...you are doing great! Congrats on your 9 pounds and keep up the good work...even if you can't see it - you should feel it or maybe your clothes look just a tiny bit better...if you convince yourself you can't see it you won't feel it either. So just keep it up!
I know what you mean. The first 15 pounds that I lost, I really didn't notice a difference. After that, one day I was like, "Wow, I actually do look thinner." Then I seemed to look the same for another 15 pounds. It's just because you see yourself everyday in the mirror so you don't see yourself changing. It is really frustrating when you know you've lost pounds but don't see it. One day, it will hit you that you look thinner because you'll remember what you looked like before weight loss. Try taking your measurements and seeing if they go down. That will really help you notice the difference. Sometimes looking at old pictures helps too. Are your clothes looser yet? That really helped me realize that I've actually lost weight.
I view the scale as more of a novelty! The mirror rules all. But I think the above comment is spot on. You will start to see it at some point. And usually someone that doesnt see you everyday will notice it before you. And you are always going to be your biggest critic! Keep up the good work!
I totally know what you mean. I cannot tell a difference either. But...my favorite is when someone is like Have you lost weight? And you think to yourself..YES!!! And you just respond yeah, a little. And then, that is when you realize when you look in the mirror that you have lost a little weight.
haha yea i'm waiting for that for someone to say
"Hey you lost weight" *Then i hear angels sing *
Then ONLY THEN, will i belive my $50 doller scale lol
Depends on how much you weigh. If you are 110 and lose 5 lbs, sure people are gonna notice. Different story if you weigh more though.

KEEP IT UP! you should see your clothes fitting better soon :)
you are wrong about one thing i your initial post....the scale DOES lie
I know exactly what you mean!!! I have lost 15lbs so far and don't see it in the mirror at all!!! I went down quite a few pants sizes in 15lbs but still can't see it....I thought a male friend was lieing to me when he said how good I looked and how skinney I was getting (obveously in comparison to how fat I am/was...because I still need to lose 40-50lbs) I mentioned it to my hubby and he asked the guy if he just remebers him mentioning it or if he really noticed and he said he just noticed so that was really nice....But dang it I want to notice it!!!!
I hate that it has to be 15 pounds to notice you've lost, but if you slip and put back on 3 pounds, it seems to be visible immediately!
SOOO TRUE Courtbarb!!!
Ya, I agree...it takes at least 15 pounds to notice, unfortunately.
However, for me, it felt like it was an all-of-a-sudden drop. I lost steadily from Sept until the end of November...about 14 pounds. Didn't really see a difference or felt a difference. Then, by the end of December, I was down 10 more pounds. Went down 3 pant sizes in a matter of weeks. I'm still getting used to being suddenly at a (close to) healthy weight!
Girl I've lost 24 so far and feel EXACTLY the same was as you. When I look in the mirror I see the same thing as before I started this. *joins rant*
well i know i better see something soon or atleast someone that hasent seen me a while tell me something!!
it would help rather than it feeling like its hopeless and quit!
@beingiansmommy
24 and u see nothing?? ugh that sucks
*goes under bed sheets with a bag of baked chips**sigh*
I would see about getting a new mirror!
ive lost 50lbs and i dont really see it. im still fat :(
it takes alot of pounds lost to notice :( i'm down 51 & finally DO see the difference!!! i love it!!! :D i'm still fat though...
anyway, don't your clothes fit better?!
i'm wearing size 11 jeans that i bought on christmas eve & they were so tight i almost cried!!! if i couldn't squeeze into them, i had nothing to wear... anyway, i laid on the bed to get 'em on & i was 175. now, at 167 i keep yanking them up!
i'm nowhere near a size 9 yet though LOL believe me.... i've tried... i sneak & try on my daughters jeans when she's not around
LOL! I sneak and try the smaller stuff on too. It seems like that's the litmus test --if the smaller clothes don't fit, then it's not coming off??? NAH! Do this--take your measurements. Then, take them again in one month. When you see those number moving, it feels great --very gratifying. I had last 10 pounds and wasn't seeing it very much. But, then I took my measurements and saw I lost more than 7 inches on my body. THAT was great and reminded me that it IS working.
In the mirror...I'm finally noticing now (almost 50 pound loss), with my clothes, I noticed at about 10 pounds lost.
Sometimes though...in the mirror, I still see a 160 pound girl. I see physically features are different, but....eh...it's just distorted is all.
Measurements, like vikb said can be a godsend. Then it's not just a number on a scale but a physical change that you can visualize.
Ignore the scale, ignore the mirror.
I put my trust in my waistband. ;)
Unfortunately, the more you look in the mirror the less you will notice any changes, take pictures instead, and compare..or call up friends u havent seen in a while to hang out, or here is something funny thing to do, buy a shirt or pants that is a size too small, and try it on every once in awhile...
but most of all, don't let up..keep at it, and don't obsess, or else you will be disappointed with every good thing you do..i mean 9lbs! that's awesome! Be proud, and keep it up! ^_-
adios
