So today my boss and I went for lunch.  I tried to be super good but you can only be so good at a restaurant.

I had teryaki tofu.  Basically its tofu with teryaki sauce lol but i tried to scrape of the sauce and only had about 5 - 1 inch cubes.  I have no idea if the tofu was fried of not. I didn't eat the rice. I had a cup of green tea and half a bowl of soup.  The soup tasted like chicken broth with some scallions and some little pieces of tofu.

SO HOW MANY CALORIES WOULD THAT BE? Max 500?  I just need an estimate so i can peacefully sleep at night :-)

Normally i wouldnt be so crazy about it since its once in a while but i just started monday :-(

the soup sounds like miso soup - 1 cup = 85 cals (incl tofu pieces)

if the teriyaki tofu was baked - 1oz (28g) piece = 50cals

if fried - 1oz = 77 cals

5 pieces of baked = 250 cals, + cup of soup =335cals

5 pieces fried = 385 cals, + cup of soup =470

 

This is info from CC, guess work as to weights for tofu, hate the stuff!

the soup you described sounded like miso soup, which is fermented soy bean soup.  VERY healthy and delicious.  teriyaki tofu was probably grilled.  chicken teriyaki usually is.

according to CC:
1 cup miso soup: 85 calories
1/5 packaged tofu block: 80 calories
1 tbsp teriyaki sauce: 16 calories

you probably didn't have more than 300 calories, depending on how big the tofu pieces were.  and the tea was calorie free unless you added sugar.  japanese food can be as high or low cal as you want depending on what you eat.  you made some very smart choices.  you probably could have even had some of the rice too without worrying.
