I first joined this site at 117pounds with a goal of 110 then of 114. Now i am 128 pounds (after a binge yesterday) and my goal is now 117 by septemember for back to uni. i am only 5 feet and i can not stand how i look. i just want to look hot and enjoy a young body. i was wondering how to do this. i tried always having a 500 calorie defict to lose a pound a week..didnt work. i tried eating 1300-1500calories didnt work.  i am trying to eat 1200calories but its been hard. what is worse is that im going back to cuba for my annual friend vacation and all these girls have the hottest bodies..but me.i leave on the 25th and i really want to be as thin as healhty possible by then.  i also am a dancer and this weight gain is not letting my ballet teacher take me serious and im losing roles and spots due to it. i just want a dancers body. i do strength training for around 20-30minutes 3-4times a week and i do walk alot, along with ballet and dancing. my other question is, if i do not break into a sweat is it still considered a workout for weightloss. i hate sweating so often i walk or light jog\

all opinions

hiya.

im no expert but i reckon you're in  the healthy bmi range so i think working out will be better than dieting for you. why don't you try eating healthy but cutting out the sweets and stuff. you know maybe like a small treat every 2 days or so rather than evryday.

maybe you should try taking measurements since you are exercising that much, you might be building muscle.

Hi Lolla.  Your very first post several months ago said that you were 128lbs., and I suspect that you have been going back and forth with that weight pretty much all summer.  I know how frustrating that can be.

On your other posts you have received some very good advice but never responded.  Is there a reason for that?  We still don't know how old you are-that makes a very big difference in determining how many calories you need per day and how many you burn as well.

Have you used the tools that CC provides?  The Burn Meter and Eat Meter?  They are really helpful to get things in perspective.

surinataylor is right with measurements, they help too if you are exercising.  You might weigh more on the scale, but your clothes may be fitting a lot looser.

Let us know the answers to these questions so we can help you a tad betterSmile.

thanks guys. sorry if im frusterating all of you. im actually so frusterated myself. i am 19 small boned(if that matters) and as for genetics my mother is 5'3 and 100 pounds and my grandmother 5'3 and 106 pounds..so i know im spouse to be smaller. i was actually wondering if the foods you eat matter more then the calories you eat

thanks for all yur help

You dont mention your father.... Is he built like a jockey or a rugby player?  My mother is 5' 1" and weighs about 115lbs wet through but I've been 5 inches taller than her since I was 14 and a good 30lbs heavier besides... built more like my Dad.   Maybe you're not meant to be smaller.  Or if success at dancing = being smaller = starving yourself into an early grave... perhaps you should look for another career?

It sounds like you're trying to eat less than you can put up with.  What if you ate more (filling, healthy food like veggies and fruit and whole grains)?  When you feel deprived, of course you're going to eat more.

And maybe when you succeed in eating very little, your body is trying to hold onto energy.  If you're dancing every day and working out, shouldn't 1200 calories be too little?

Also, since you're a serious athlete, try a sports nutritionist who can work with you one-on-one.  If this is affecting your career, it will be worth the money.  If you're in a university, your university health service may have a free nutrition consulting service.

Hi Lolla,

If you are a dancer then chances are your weight is mostly muscle with is much heavier than fat.  You are looking to do very specific loss.  This means good food choices with lots of meals a day.  5-6 3-400 calories meals.  You should be eating constantly. Fruits, veggies, protein.  I am sure that you should be eating 1800-2400 calories with your activity level. I would want to know much more inforation about your situation.

What is your BMI

How many calories are you burning a day.

Maybe the weight lifting is working against you. Do you want to be ripped or thin.

You also said some things that make me concerned about your health. To gain 11 pounds on a "binge" in not healthy and to be so down on your appearance when you are obviously very athletic makes me wonder if you have a realistic  goal or if you are being very honest with your self.
