I don't get it (really need a response)

I am very confused and upset.

My weight has gone up since the last time I weighed myself (almost 2 weeks ago).

I have been doing cardio exercises 3 days this week and strength training 5 days this week, not to mention carrying around an almost 14lb backpack 3 days this week, and my weight has gone up. I have been really good with eating. 4-6 small meals every day this week so my body is not in starvation mode.

Why would my weight go up? I feel like I am never going to reach my goal weight of 160lb.

My lifestyle has gone from Sedentary to the next level up. (I think Light Activity). Is the extra lbs muscle? I know muscle weighs more than fat, can you gain muscle in just 1 week?

This is very confusing and upsetting to me. I am thinking why bother?!? I am doing everything I can and my weight still goes up. I am meeting my calorie goals almost every day this past two weeks, and when I don't meet them I am only off by a 100 or so. I am practicing Intuitive Eating.

I just don't get it.

when you first start gaining back muscle, your body changes a lot. i'd say don't be so worried, it'll probably level out in no time. also, if you just went back to eating "normally" it might be weight fluctuation from that.

sorry, i don't really know for sure.

While there isn't enough information in your post for me to provide more than vague suggestions, I am wondering if it's maybe that you're not eating enough. You might've hit a plateau. You say you can't be in starvation mode because you're eating 4-6 small meals a day, I've heard from several doctors that the whole "eating bits all day" thing is kind of a myth. Your metabolism isn't affected by how many times you eat, but by how much you eat. It's effective mostly for keeping yourself full so that you don't indulge in a high calorie snack. How much are you eating, and how does that compare to your RMR and level of activity?

If not, (if you're female) you could be bloated from PMS. Or maybe you are gaining muscle mass (though I doubt it if the change in lifestyle only happened a couple weeks ago).

Hope some of this helps.

Have a nice week!
