I have been eating and doing so well since I got into college. I went from 130 to 126, then for soem reason, whenever I get home, I binge. I have no idea why and its hindering my weight loss so badly. Is there any advice out there?

first off, congrats on your progress so far!

But before you come home, like, on your way home or right before you leave to go home, have a snack (pack some ahead of time). Things like nuts keep off hunger for longer, and are delicious as well :)

There could be several reasons. In my case (and others), I've binged because I am feeling something (fear, sadness, stress) and bingeing helps me feel like I am filling my deep, dark emotional hole. In other cases, the person bingeing hasn't gotten enough protein, fat, or certain vitamins. I think when you figure out which one of these examples sounds like you, you can chart a course of action.

yeah...sometimes i feel it too, but i drink loads of tea (green/ginger/ginseng..whatever's in the cupboard) if that doesn't work i brush my teeth so i don't feel like i want to get them dirty again. THEN i mentally think to myself "come on, it's about 9 hours before you eat again. what's 9 hours compared to the rest of your life? nothing! so just have a little patience!" hope it works!

I'm thinking it might just be that you can't control what you have access to at home. At school, you probably only buy certain things or keep certain food around. At home, it's whatever your parents have purchased or are cooking. Not to mention some of mom's home cooking is extra tempting after being on your own for a little while. You are also much more likely to be less busy at home. You aren't going to classes, working or doing something all the time, so you have more down time = more snack time, unfortunately. Maybe try to bring your own healthy snacks or learn how to cook a few healthy meals and treat your parents to dinner when you're home.

Good luck!
