I dont understand? Help!!
I really need some sort of reasurrence or just something because i am so scared and confused right now. I am recovering from AN and have gone from 300 cals or less per day to 2500 ( i eat more in a day than i used to in a week) but the weight gain is never steady and i jumps up and down. Whenever the scale goes up its in huge amounts ie. i usually put on 2-3 lbs per month but this month i matained the first month, went up 1lb the next month then jumped up 4lbs, lost 2lbs and in this last week have jumped up 6lbs! In a week! This massive jumps are terrifying and making it so difficult and i dont understand what is going on. Today i spent a full hour crying non-stop. I didnt even know i could cry for that long and i didnt even male 1200 calories never mind 2500. What the hell is going on.
What's important is the long-term trend. Take your starting point.... take where you are now.... divide the difference by the number of months to get an average. Chances are that's a little less extreme.
Try to ignore the ups and downs and don't step on the scales more often than you have to. It's fantastic that you're doing so well so keep going, keep enjoying the extra food and keep gaining.
Big weight gain can seem scary, but remember that as long as you're eating healthy and exercising about 30 mins/day 5x weekly, it's healthy weight gain.
It could be your water weight. How much water weight you gain depends on how much salt you eat. An average weight person's weight can vary by up to 3 pounds in a day. And water weight is not permanent or attached to you in any way, so don't worry. You're becoming healthy!!

I personally believe you're body is just not used to eating yet. It sounds like you are gaining weight in a safe way, but I agree with you there. Gaining or losing weight fast is really scary. The only hands on experience I have with gaining weight fast is when I go back to my home country every summer, I'm lactose intolerant, but in my home country there is lactose free milk. So I drink milk like crazy. Almost a liter a day. And I gain weight like crazy. And then when I come back to where I am living now, I lose it almost as quickly.
Also, if you are stressed, that can cause your weight to go up and down like a yo yo almost. Didn't believe that until I started my final year of high school. So try not to stress, because that does affect your weight.
The best thing to do, I would say, is going to a dietitian or a general doctor, just as a precaution and for a safety check up. Also have you talked to any family members or close friends? Usually they are the ones who notice if you gain or lose weight in an alarming rate because they see you on a daily basis, and if you're losing or gaining as much as you say you are, it should be noticeable.
