So I have been at work all day barely holding my eyes open. I have a terrible sleeping problem. I am so tired but I promised myself I would go to the gym today. last time I went was Sunday. The last thing in the world I want to do is go but I feel like I have to. I dont want to fall in the pattern of not going cuz I am tired, because that would be just about every day! So at this moment I am planning on going but that can change at any given moment. Please tell me something that will make me not change my mind! I know I will feel better when its over!

I say go with the mindset that you are angry at being tired and use it to your advantage!.....you darn stupid tiredness!!! I find that helps me get out of bed and work out even if I don't feel like it AT ALL!.....then also think after your workout you can go pass out! Smile

I say tell yourself that if you go for 20 minutes, and you're STILL tired, then let yourself leave after that.  At least you got 20 minutes in!  Most of the time, though, when I use this strategy, after 20 minutes I end up feeling pretty darn good, so I end up staying an hour anyways :)

You can do it!

You'll sleep WAYYY better after a workout than you would've done without a workout.  Workouts are the best way of falling asleep easily and having a good nights sleep.

If you don't go to the gym, you'll go home, sleep in your bed, and won't be able to start sleeping for a few minutes because you'll feel guilty of not going to the gym. 

So I say.. go to the gym!

You can do it!

 I tend to agree with this.  Eat an apple or a banana on your way to the gym for some energy.

And find a way to get some sleep at night.  no sleep = less energy = less effective workout

I feel your frustration. I have battled with insomnia for the last year and a bit, had some good patches and some really bad patches (NO sleep for 3 and half days).

My best advice to you, is to go with your sleep. What I mean is, if you have had an ok sleep (over 4-5 hours) then try to push yourself to the gym and try and get some weights done. If you've had a really bad night, just go easier, take a looooong walk.

I know some people will say don't bother walking, that it's not that effective, but the reason why you should get lots of walking done is to try and lower your cortisol (stress hormone) levels. The less sleep you have, the more stressed your body will be and the higher the cortisol level. So try and do something a little refreshing and relaxing.

I walked alot and did some pilates, and on better days I did the gym.

Do not exercise if you are feeling lightheaded or dizzy.

Good luck, I have had a few good weeks so I'm feeling much better at the moment, it may take some time, but your body will re-adjust itself eventually.

well I made a compromise...I came home after work and didnt want to go. After about 5 minutes I felt so bad I made me go. BUT...I went in the pool and swam some laps and then water jogged for a bit. The water woke me up and I felt better. Then I relaxed in the hot tub for a bit. It was nice. I figured if I was water logged i would sleep better tonight. Something I REALLY need. Then tomorrow I will go back to the actual gym. I did get a laugh out of the whole thing though. I have a problem with the women of all ages changing in front of each  other so I go into the bathroom, so i go in there and change, throw my stuff in my back pack then lock my stuff up and go swim. When I am all done I go to my locker and head back to the bathroom to get dressed. So I am digging through my bag and find no shirt...HUH? Where could it possibly be? I locked it up..so i go back to the locker with a towel wrapped around my top area and my locker is empty...really confused now.....so I put my coat on and go tell the life guard that I seemed to have lost my shirt and asked if anyone found it and she says, is it pink? I said ya...she said oh we found it in the toilet! WHAT? Its in a plastic bag in the garbage can. OH MY GOD! It must have fallen out of my bag in the stinkin toilet! How embarassing! So I had an eventful experience! Thanks for all your advice!

 LOL did you get your shirt out of the garbage, or just leave it there?? that's too funny!!

it was my favorite Tee shirt....it says "inside me their is a thin women dying to come out but I can usually shut the bitch up with chocolate!" So ya I took it out of the garbage...gross I know, but it was in a plastic bag so it wasnt to bad!
