While, I don't want to get too graphic in an open forum, I am having "Women Troubles"
I am a 53 year old woman who has been in peri-menopause for what seems like forever. My understanding of menopause is that you stop your cycle for a solid year. I have fallen just short of that. My mother died with uterine cancer and I am afraid. I have an appointment for tomorrow but for the next couple of weeks I am going to be a basket case until the results come back. I would like to ask for prayer from anyone who believes in the power of prayer and for anyone who doesn't , I would appreciate your well wishes for a good result from the tests.
I am helping to raise my grandson and I really would like to be here for him for a long, long time.
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this post and to everyone who asks God to watch over me and to anyone who takes the time to send their well wishes into the universe. I appreciate it all.
Karen
I just said a prayer for you :).
Thank you both. I really appreciate it.
I'm sure you will be fine. It's normal to jump immediatly to the worse case scenerio, and not knowing any details there is a very, v-e-r-y wide array of issues that it could be, none life threatening, mostly just annoying and inconvenient in choices of reconciliation of the problem. They should be able to give you information in a shorter time frame than 2 weeks too, I would think. Just make sure you go in with a list of questions because invaribly once your there, you're nervous and the doctor is saying things that make your mind go in a dozen different directions and you end up forgetting every single question you promised yourself you would ask. If you don't thoroughly understand what is being said, make him/her repeat it. That's what they're getting paid for, don't let them rush you. They are there for you. If there are specific tests, after researching on the web (which I'm sure you've done) that you would like, don't be afraid to ask for them. Sometimes you have to take the 'physician, heal thyself' approach. It can more than pay off. Knowledge is scary, but knowledge is power.
Thoughts and prayers are with you, I'm sure it will be okay. Keep us posted. ![]()
Thank you, karla9405. You are so right. I know to ask for the CA125 and the new one for the cervical test. Thanks for all the good advice and the prayers. I do believe in the power of prayer and positive thinking. I am beginning my list of questions and concerns right now.
My thoughts are with you and I hope the tests show you're healthy!
I would recommend that you read a book titled "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause", by John R. Lee and Virginia Hopkins. It's a wealth of information about hormone balance/imbalance and how to correct it without the drastic measure of surgery (which so many doctors offer as the only solution). I will say a prayer for you as well! God is good!
You're in my prayers!
Remember God doesn't slam a door without opening a window!
I am wishing you well too! I hope everything turns out just fine.
My prayers and thoughts are with you.
Thanks to everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers. I went to my appointment today and had the pap. They have scheduled an internal ultrasound and a mammogram for the 17th. A little over two weeks to wait and get crazy. The waiting is one of the hardest things. Please continue to pray for me. I so appreciate it.
I've prayed for you :) And try not to be scared; whatever happens is God's will and he does what is best for you and the people around you. So trust in Him and everything will be okay.
The power of prayer can change lives in the blink of an eye. You're in my daily prayer list. Keep the faith.
Thanks to all who are praying and sending me positive thoughts. I believe that prayer can change lives and hearts.
Things don't just stop dead overnight... the hormones can drop gradually and it can go in fits and starts and take YEARS to dwindle away. That doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with you at all, any more than there's something wrong with the 13yo kid who's just started her cycles and gets two periods in a year. I'm sure you must be very anxious though, so I'll keep you in my prayers.

Amen, sister! Please, karefreeman, read the book!!
I appreciate the advice and I understand but perhaps you don't understand, akaskanmama. I have read many books about the subject. I am not an uneducated person. My mother passed away with uterine cancer. I have not had a period in almost a year until last week. I am concerned. I am afraid and I think you would be as well in my position. There are many, many books on the subject.
Thank you for your prayers kajikit. I appreciate them.
Please try not to panic about it... the doctors will tell you if there's anything seriously wrong - it's far more likely to be a perfectly normal hormonal surge than a sign of something dire... you are NOT your mother and just because something bad happened to her that does NOT mean that it's happening to you too...
Thanks , kajikit. You are very kind.
Don't underestimate the power of prayer. I'm working with a kid who's been threatening suicide (and attempted it a couple times), and after about 20 people started praying for him, he stopped talking about rat poison, started talking about plans for the future and agreed to see a therapist. There's NO way I could've made that change myself...
So I'll be praying for you too, and I expect all these prayers to have a big effect!
