Donut wars - part duex

What is the only good brand/kind of donut...in your opinion?

I like anything filled with lemon.  Preferably that kind with the granulated sugar on it?  It's orgasmic.

Favorite brand is probably Krispy Kreme... never had a hot one, though.  We microwave and they're almost as good.

Tim Horton's sour cream doughnuts.

All their other doughnuts used to be a lot better when they let the individual franchises make them fresh.  Now that they make them centrally and ship frozen, they're less moist and light.  The sour cream ones are still yummy though - they seem to survive the process okay.

Yup, my favorite, too. A customer dropped a dozen doughnuts yesterday so I asked one of my "skinny coworkers" to eat one so I could watch them enjoy it. That was good enough for me. 

Dunkin Donuts to me have the best brand. My fav. is their Apple and Spice donuts, yummy. I also enjoy the boston creme ones as well (the ones with the vanilla pudding in them.)

 Same here.  Used to eat 3 at a time while I lived in spain (my host mother was a terrible cook, so i probably needed the calories).  Luckily they don't have a dunkin donuts within a 2 mile radius from where i live now.

Any of the donuts from Kierdrowski's. It's a little bakery not far from here. It's owned by the cutest little Polish couple. When you walk in they always have polka music playing.

If I can't have theirs. The local grocery store bakery is decent. Third choice would be Krispy Cremes.

The one I didn't eat. No, really though:  Davis Donuts, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho makes something called a chocolate-mint devil.  I have pigged severly on those quite a few years ago.  They were sooo good.

Chocolate Old Fashioned.

Pretty much the only donut I will waste my cals on.  I break off all the edges and eat them first.  So crunchy and fried. Mmmm.

Shockingly... I've never been to a Dunkin Donuts.... and I don't think we have a Krispy Kreme anywhere near here anymore.  Krispy Kreme original glazed are OK, but I think all of the other variations are much too sweet, and make me sick.

Faye's Bakery.....just a small town bakery that was located at the end of the street my mother in law use to live on.

When we would visit the MIL(about once/twice per year) I'd set the alarm to 4am so my husband could be up and have his cup of coffee before time to go get donuts.

If you got there past 630am, they'd be out of the good ones.

Krispy Kreme original glazed are "ok".

Tim Hortons doughnuts...  Just.. Ugh.  I'd rather eat their muffins, and if you've ever seen them made, that's baaaaaaaaaad.

Any place that mixes the dough and fries them up fresh.  Not the chains, not even Krispy Kreme can hold a candle to a freshly made doughut from scratch, not from a commercial mix.  Those are the places where you see people lined up to get in.

In March this year, after more than 2 years with no doughnuts, I bought just one lemon filled doughnut from an Amish bakery in Lancaster, PA.  I couldn't eat it!  Too rich.  Never thought I'd see the day when I couldn't make room for a doughnut or two!

Not quite a doughnut, but I'd take sopapillas over a doughnut any day, especially with some honey or some cinnamon and brown sugar (the latter as a sprinkled coating while hot, so it sticks).

 I completely 100% agree with you!! I used to work there as well, and I was helping fill the boston cremes, and apparently theres an "art" to it, because whenever I tried - I would overfill it and it would like ooze too much from the center :-D we just covered it with the chocolate. I don't think the customers minded too much aside from its appearance. Although, my boss kept me in the front, I wonder why!!

The muffins are horrendously delicious!

Krispy Kreme is over rated, I don't find them very good, and too sweet. Since Tim Horton's is pretty much all that's around here, I'll have to say their glazed sour cream, boston creme and cherry cruiller (do those count?)...but to be honest, I pretty much like them all -_-

fresh donut from the fryer, dipped, dunked, sprinkled and rizledw ith everything you can image for toppings.  Then dipped, dunked, sprinkled with this and that and drizzled again. Coat with batter and deep fry for 2 minutes.  Top off  with mile high layer of whip from the can and drizzle with chocolate and carmel sauce, add a cherry nuts and cut up pieces of donut holes.

Sorry just had post something so ridiculous you would never crave a donut again

Kripy Kreme are WAY overrated.

 I wish i found donuts "blech!" lol life would be so much easier resisting them.

I find i cannot have Krispy Kremes- although they are good, they give me massive heartburn after and i keep burping up the taste for the rest of the day. ick.

I have to say my favorite is Dunkin Donuts... Jelly. (especially the flavored jelly w/ the powder on the the outside)
